ok so im new to this site and havent made full member status so i dunno if this is in the LDB or not but it should be!

so me and my girlfriend and roommate were bored the other night and decided to go check out a drain i remembered from when i was a kid! From what i remembered it was gonna be no prob since it had to have been at least 6ft tall. yeah so that 6ft drain was really a 4ft drain once we got out there but having to walk like Quasimodo wasnt gonna stop us!

no more than 100ft in i found an axe that had apparently been there for a minute due to the slime and rust that had accumulated. nows about a good time to tell ya that women dont like dark cramped spaces, THEY DONT! they might say they do, but they dont. so we kept trudging along trying to tune out the constant whining of my gurlfriend that was beginning to sound like a bunch of ankle biters screaming are we there yet, are we there yet? we came to a couple of small tunnels that branched off, we assume led to strom drain or manhole, but due to the fact that we would have to army crawl through them we decided they would be better left for a later date!

now were back in here over 100 yrds now and we started seeing white stalactites like almost pure white.

dont really know what it is but heres the wierd thing, as we got further back in there, the stalactites started changing color. they were almost a blood red / black color now

notice the one in the back

we kept goind came to a tunnel that was actually big enough for us to fit through, so after a little debating on how far we really wanted to go we decided to go ahead and check it out! the girls had had enough and decide to wait outside in the main tunnel for us since they could see the room the tunnel led to!

see the room in the back??

Ok so me and my friend start through the tunnel and come out in this big room thats bout 10ft tall with a large grate on the top and thank god we can see the sky! ok so heres where it gets really cool, my buddy climbed up this pole and pump equip that was against the wall and got to the top and was lookin round and was like wtf?? so im like what? what? he said were surrounded by water on every side. so now im like wtf?? so i shimmy up this pole and my friend is giving me some light and all of a sudden we here so old lady yelling so we quick shut off the light and i got to the top and started looking around and he wasnt lying, we were surrounded by water on all sides. turns out we came up in an overflow drain thats smack dead in the middle of a pond of a retirement home! totally awesome but givin the fact we were in the middle of a retirement community we decided that flash photography prob wouldnt be a good idea. at this point we were good for the night and decided to head back! sorry didnt get more pics but of the other stuff but im extremely nervous bout carrying my camera over a bunch of slime water! ne ways that was our night and it was pretty cool! i def recommend checking it out if your in the south garland area! P.S. i left the axe way back by the retirement home for the next person far enough back to scare off curious kids that im i know frequent the opening

it not exactly like a glory hole but close! this is a square with a grate on top that i would say is bout a foot above the water at the time and on each side of the square there is a shoe box sized hole for the overflow to drain! thankfully it wasnt raining!

Heh!
See probably told people she saw the Loch Ness Monster...
That is a cool drain. I'm not really into the crouching duck-walk thing but I do like the bigger ones with enough room to ride my bike and take the dogs.
