Great choice of film!

Number 3 is my favorite.
I think the biggest improvement I could suggest is to shoot more. A lot of your photos look like the 'usual suspects' of UE photography. #3 breaks the mold!

Most of these aren't bad, I would make sure they are not under exposed cause it looks like a few of them are. I would also watch you composition. Look at the spray can shot it's almost a vertical line, I would try taking it from a 3/4 angle and zooming n pretty close.

Actually for the spraycan shot, the subject was more ground than the can. I was thinking about a night sky filled up with stars. The can was only there to make a vivid contrast with that analogy.

I really like the colors on #2.

"We have to show these men and women freedom by enslaving them, and show them courage by frightening them." "At the time, my life just seemed too complete, and maybe we have to break everything to make something better out of ourselves." "This was freedom. Losing all hope was freedom."

lovely photos. i'm very fond of velvia myself, but starting to have second guesses as to its suitability for ue photography.

the high saturation is great for drawing color out of the typical neutral-toned ue setting, but the dense blacks are somewhat debilitating. the film just doesn't tolerate underexposure well, and in the common "window and dark corridor" photography, if you want any detail in the window, the corridor is surely lost. the seas of black with almost no transition-zone definitely scream "velvia" in a number of your shots (and mine.)

the dense blacks make sense for viewing the slides in traditional contexts - slide shows - but for scanning and subsequent digital work, i think i'd rather save the shadows (leaving the option of killing them via levels adjustment) and bring up saturation in post, as necessary.

i shot provia on my last outing, i can let you know how it compares if you're interested in the shadow detail vs. native saturation compromise. (processing this week.)

great scans btw, very clean.
