| | | So, these are my first photo posts on this board. I know next to nothing about photography, I had one class in high school a lot of which I don't remember. I'm using a digital but I don't have a tripod, so I end up with a fair amount of blur in some pictures. None of these have been post-edited in Photoshop save for resizing, however I have access to the program so let me know if any could use some work. Anyway, have at it: [last edit 2/7/2006 1:19 AM by Urban Pirate - edited 1 times]

| | | Extremely basic but very useful...the flash ruins your photos. Try a long exposure (slow shutter speed, with a tripod). If your camera is cheap and isn't capable of long exposures try the using the slowest shutter (night mode) with flash diffusion (google it). The flash creates washed out colours, you could try colour filters in photoshop. The one with the drum in the corner could be a suitable candidate for this. Composition is something that can be worked on. Said drum photo is decent, but the stairs, the ladder photos are lacking. The easiest thing to do is probably framing...using something to "frame" your subject. It adds interest and potentially meaning. Here's a page from a google search... http://www.azusweb...raphy/ph_comp.html Try not to shoot perpetually from eyelevel. Only after these essentials can you really get into photoshop.

| | | Get a light-weight, good-quality tripod. Not as stable as a heavier, wooden tripod, but great for lugging around when UEing. With a tripod, your pix will be like night and day. You get so much by not using a flash.

Can you recommend one that would be good, but relatively inexpensive?

| | | I bought a good one from Walmart....$34 I think. It's very light-weight, has some good features...easy to use.

| | | I got the same one, not bad at all to be honest, I know there are a lot better out there but suits my needs. Some pretty interesting pictures, though I think some of the straight on shots like the chair would be really cool if you took them at a 45 degree angle or something, it will show more of the chair, and perhaps look really nice depending on how it is taken.
