Allo there,
A friend and I went exploring a few days ago and I took quite a bit of shots. So far these are the ones I've got resized. I'm a fan of these shots but I'd like to see if anyone has any opinions on 'em.

Thanks

The door is excellent. Quite evocative. I like the angle and the flat, subdued tones.

Thanks for the comment. (:
I also have a sepia version of the door. But I just liked the shadowing and what not on the first version I posted much better.

nobody, TROLL7, FourSidedOctagon:

Thanks very much for the replies.
At the rate that this thread was getting looked at, and the lack of replies I didn't think anyone was going to reply after awhile.

Is there anything you think I could change or add to the image or should I leave it as is?

I wouldn't change a thing.

I've only got a little point and shoot Canon PowershotA75.

I don't change any of that when I'm shooting. The only settings I switch between are "sepia" and just standard "auto" setting. Usually my EXP is never changed.

I believe this camera has a manual mode. I'd suggest buying a tripod and playing around with the shutter speed/aperture settings. You can achieve some great results with a point-and-shoot if you set the ISO low, use a tripod, and set the shutter speed and aperture manually.

Thanks (:

I've got a tripod but it's such a hassle in some of these places though.
Perhaps I'll bring it along and play around on my next excursion.

Thanks again.

Nice pictures, I think that chair might look really cool in B+W actually.

I bought a very light-weight and tripod from Walmart. It came with a little bag to lug it around in. It's a very light-weight tripod that is perfect for UE.

The A75 has the M mode, but supposably the ISO is automatic: http://consumer.us...d=145&modelid=9828
Which is surprising because the (admittedly) newer A95 lets you adjust ISO. I'll just add that the A95 is a very nice camera indeed

It is a nice camera.
Hopefully sometime in the future (hopefully more nearer than distant) I'm going to be upgrading. I'm still shopping around as far as what I'm going to upgrade to, but I'll take that one into consideration ;p

1 - Fantastic. The ONLY thing that bugs me about this is the soft focus on the wood in the foreground. I wonder if you did another layer and amped up the USM then used a layer mask so it was only on the fuzzy part if it would be better. Awesome composition though.

2 - I think you're B&W version is better. But not bad.

3 - Evocative is the right word. This is great. It's a simple photograph but it really gets you thinking, you know? Great shot! I like the color one better.

4 - I like this one a lot. Something isn't quite right though. Maybe the toning or something...not sure. I like the blown out window though. Good composition, good shot.

5 - I wish there were a bit more detail outside the door, but it may be my shit monitor at work. Excellent shot.

I notice your avatar every time I see one of your posts too. Is that one of yours?

It's not mine, I wish it was mine. It's such a brilliant shot.
