Either that, or if you're photographing at night, set your camera on a tripod and paint with a flashlight with a long exposure of 20-30 seconds. Add a few nice colored gels to your flashlight, and you'll get an awesome effect.

| | | Invest in a tripod and don't use flash. If your camera has manual mode use long exposures.

| | | 1 - The flash mamed this picture. Interesting piece of machinery but the flash killed anything good about this. 2 - Those chairs are a cool subject. I would shoot them from a lower angle, and not straight down the row...looking back at them a bit more. The points of interest here are the wood and the detail on the side...everything else is a distraction. The flash also killed this. 3 - I like this. You've got the hill ending at the 1/3 line which is great. I feel like you might be able to work the composition a bit and get an even better shot, but this isn't bad. I like the overall look of it a lot. 4 - I like the way the building sits in the frame. Some of the right side feels extraneous though. I think filling a bit more of the frame with the building would help. 5 - I like this. If you shot it again I would move closer to the tub and try not to have as much empty space on the left. The tight framing is OK, but then you have that empty space on the left that doesn't jive with the tight framing. Not bad, lots of potential. If I were you, the next time I shot I would concentrate first and foremost on not shooting at standing height. Lay on the ground, crouch down....anything to get a more unusual angle. You're picking good subjects, you just need to really focus on what about the subject you want to capture. [last edit 2/2/2006 2:17 AM by desmet - edited 2 times]

Wow, that's a great idea. I think I'll try that sometime. =)
