Downtown. Seriously, I don't wanna give the game away, but you should have absolutely no trouble finding a myriad of things to explore in Houston.
|

| | | There are some of us in Houston more commonly affiliated with computer security topics who like to explore. Any places we should look? I want to go hunting around the ship channel.

| | | If anyone lives near katy, the old rice driers are awesome places to explore. The tallest one is about 10 stories and if youre brave you can climb the rusty ladder to the top. if anyone knows any other cool places near katy please tell me. | | | another place in katy- the katy mills mall. there's a huge tunnel that leads under the mall. if you go in it, you come out in the center of the mall, behind all the stores. its pretty cool, but sometimes there's a security guard in there, so just act lost or something. | | | I'm in Houston for the summer and I guess I'm just not that creative because I haven't found too much to explore. I guess I can always just go downtown and rummage about, but if anyone has any suggestions or anything please PM me. Thanks.

| | | hello houston. it took me almost a year to prepare, but here i am at last. moving to houston wasn't just another move. it is finding a new way to live and ue. i came to town yesterday with a backpack and a one-person self supported tent. now, it's off to find accessible rooftops for camping, abandonments for exploring, and a job to keep me fed. you can see what i've been up to for the last few months in raleigh, nc in my other thread: structure camping http://www.uer.ca/...d=31492&currpage=1 basically i find somewhere to sleep where no one will bother me and work during the day. plenty of time in-between for adventure. this lifestyle is still new to me, but it feels more natural than anything i've ever experienced. i look forward to meeting and exploring with ya'll. don't worry, i'm not a smelly hobo-bum and i wont ask you for spare change ; P i'm just a kid who fell out of love with life. now i'm trying to find something else. if anyone wants to show me around houston, i would be very grateful. i reside most often in downtown coffee houses. this is a link to my journal, wherein i describe last night's rooftop: http://www.uer.ca/...d=33321&currpage=1

I think everyone should take on this lifestyle at least once in their lives. Even if it's just for a short while.
I figured out what's wrong with life: It's other people. |

| | | Hello Everyone This is my first post. I have been interested in this kind of thing for a long time and had no idea there were others that did also. I've never actually gone into one but would jump at the opportunity with someone who knows how to do it right. I think it started for me wit the Rice Hotel before the renovation like during the late 80s. I have been eyeing the Savoy Hotel and for the last couple of years there is a building that sits vacant south of the old Texaco Building (1111 Rusk) and north of Houston Center (the black buildings that sit on 2 full blocks)
in this picture its the tan building on the right.[edit: its in the middle picture] It is completely boarded up and judging from a view from the Houston Center (my bank was located there on the 3rd floor, I would check it out as I was waiting in line) it looks virtually untouched since the day it closed. I would love to see what things were left behind in there from way back when. [last edit 9/6/2006 4:08 AM by DJ Rage - edited 1 times]
