I wish. Being unemployed and living with my mother limits my options when she decides to move to hell Texas hell.

If you don't like it here, then by all means, please leave. Move back to Washington. I would suggest somewhere near or on Mt St Helens.....

Now guys,
There's no call to get all upset over a difference of opinion.
Everyone's entitled to their own points of view and that's what makes this such a great place to live.

Some people like balogna and some like steak.
Some preffer MacDonnalds to Herreras.
Some like music while others might like a hammerdrill on a puppy's skull.
Some people worship Satan and some don't.
Just like some folks love Texas and some don't.

So I say live and let live. If a man wants to eat balogna and Macdonnalds, hammerdrill puppies skulls and worship the devil and not like Texas, it's his right to do so.

Peace out, Y'all!

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.

Houston explorer checking in. I live very near all the stuff on the katy, so I've been pretty active recently. We checked the REI on international tonight, but it's been largely destroyed by graffiti and broken glass. The roof was all right though.

Are you talking about the REI off the Katy Freeway over near uhh...Antoine? I was wanting to go there and see if they still had the holds from the rock wall there. If they are gonna tear it down, I might as well grab some nice holds.

There is an abandoned warehouse I saw on Saturday off of Montrose and Alan Parkway. Has anyone been in this?

The one next to where they are building those condos? Is that still there? I was expecting them to've torn it down by now.

Hi,

I'm a reporter with the Houston Press and I am working on a story about urban exploration. Specifically, I'm doing a story about exploring the bayous, storm sewers and the effluent zones of refineries. The story is focusing on the search for nature in unlikely places, but I'm also interested in talking to anybody with exploration experience of these areas, both to find people to go with an get some tips for my own expeditions. At any rate, please send me an email or give me a call if you are around and can help in any way.

Hi Josh,
Due to the nature of our hobby and the inherent problems that media attention afford us in the way of tightened security, etc. most of us would rather the media turned us a blind eye. We are afforded a lot more accessibility working in the shadows. The debate as to whether media helps or harms the sport are ongoing and often heated but I'm sure that you'll find some who crave 15 minutes in the spotlight who will be more than willing to assist you in your pursuit.
Be forewarned that many of these individuals may not be as experienced as you might like and take care when choosing possible partners. The most experienced, best candidates for such a project will be the most likely not to respond to your request. Conversely, most respondents probably won't fill the bill.

This could be an interesting article. It doesn't look like you're approaching urban exploration in the limited scope most people apply to the term, but rather using it the way I'd like to see it used, with more emphasis on 'exploration,' and less emphasis on the implied dogma that 'urban exploration' is only about taking cliched artsy photos of decaying buildings. I've heard of people (and I think I've seen articles about it in either the Chronicle or the Press) who go on these crazy canoe tours of the Bayou and you're in the middle of the 610 loop, in the heart of the 4th largest city in the country and all you can see and hear is utter wilderness. As for effluent zones; that sounds absolutely wretched.

I'd like to read that press article when it comes out, any idea when it will be printed?

Also Noah, I don't think any of the rock holds were there (or the wall for that matter) last time I went there, although I didn't think to look.

Hola guys and gals. I'm still here in Houston too. Anybody explored that tagged building off I-10 between Bunker Hill and Gessner? I think it'll be gone VERY soon; feeder road work being done nearby.

Hey Justin. Are you talking about the old Daniel Industries/Emerson Products building on the NW corner of Bunker Hill and 10? My mom works there (or at the new facility anyways) and I was given cart blanche shortly after closure. I know there was a guard on the Bunker Hill entrance when I was there, and there was still a fair amount of people running around pulling up machinery. Of course when I was there it wasn't tagged, so we may be talking about something else but it wouldn't surprise me if it was tagged all to hell.

I owe that building my life. My parents met there.

PS. If we are talking about the same property, it will be torn down soon, and walmart owns the lot, don't know what they'll do with it.

Hey Noah. I think we are talking about the same place. So cool that you had a free pass to explore; I'm sure it was great to explore all of the buildings in the complex. I know it stretched a ways north of the freeway. As of tonight (I checked) only the brown brick buildings at the south end along I-10 remain.

I think retail's a comin'.

I'm up for hitting anything up whenever.

Noah - I apologize for not calling when in Dallas. Naturally I forgot my cell charger and the phone went out. If you're down here, I'm sure I could use your expertise.

EDIT - I guess it's time for me to get a Kinky avatar.

Planning a Houston trip soon. Please message me any interesting leads. I always see stuff along the highways as I am passing through. There seem to be a lot of vacant office buildings on the outskirts.

Downtown.

Seriously, I don't wanna give the game away, but you should have absolutely no trouble finding a myriad of things to explore in Houston.
