Barry, This is the place I e-mailed you about last night. This is an extremely active place. There is a security checkpoint at the main site. The entire lake is fenced off, I couldn't even find the thing from any of the backraods. Tons of abandoned houses, though. These were about all the pics i could get before daylight ran out. If anyone out there is feeling extremely brave, PM me, and I'll give you directions....

I took this shot from about half a mile away, that's about as close as you can get.

Is it pretty much in the area we were talking about?

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.

its an electric power plant

since their permit number is public record...no big secret

the owners gotta burn stuff to make steam in order to make electric power so they need an air quality permit:

OAK GROVE MANAGEMENT COMPANY LLC, CN602881955
OAK GROVE STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, RN100216191

licensee info courtesy of http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/

power plants are on the HLS list

You got it. This place has been dormant since the mid 80's. Story in the paper said they were about to restart construction. But they have already started....

TXU also built the lake and purchased the surrounding 30,000 acres to strip mine. If you like abandoned houses, you can definitely get your fill out here...
