Abandoned School/Factory Downtown Toronto

So, I have yet to see anything on the abandoned School/Factory on Christie street south of St.Clair (East side). There is a traditional wooden fence around it but I haven't been able to get up there to scout it yet. Has anyone been there or know what I'm talking about? I'd like to check it out as it looks close to demolition. Any takers?

Ok, so I did a little research (imagine that). And I have a possibility:

"On the east side of Christie Street, two blocks south of St. Clair Avenue and two north of bucolic Wychwood Park, five abandoned Toronto Transit Commission streetcar maintenance barns occupy part of a 1.6 hectare parcel of land that has largely been sitting idle since 1978.

The complex includes five interconnected barns, the first built in 1913, a second added in 1916, and three more built in 1921. All five share a common architectural language -- the stripped-down neo- classicism typical of early 20th-century industrial architecture -- but the structure of the 1921 barns consists of reinforced concrete, while the two earlier ones are built of steel frame, with light, filigreed roof trusses. All five have central skylights running the length of the building, providing ample daylight deep into the heart of each barn. " -taken from http://www.anewpark.ca

Check out these images too:

Looks like I might be a few months too late! Can anyone confirm?

SC: This thread is badly titled, but I'll run with it.

I'm pretty sure those car barns are still standing and probably still accessible. There's an article on the proposed park in the latest issue of THIS Magazine, and it looks like the park is still far from being a sure thing. There's still a good chance the whole thing will be sold to condo developers or something like that.

Yeah, it's Wychwood carhouse, as the last two of you suggested (it runs along Wychwood Av...I believe streetcar tracks remain as well). There are signs all over it saying "AREA PATROLLED DAILY", but I don't know that that means anything in the real world.

The somewhat affluent surrounding community is pretty unhappy about the notion of turning the carhouse into an artist's commune (guess that's worse than an empty lot), so articles run on this in NOW and the like quite frequently. I'd be interested to see if anyone got in to see anything interesting, although it's probably less exciting than an actual abandoned school or factory since it will most likely consist of large empty car repair barns. But you never know!
