| | | | Most number of explored sites in 1 day? < on 10/21/2005 7:41 PM >
| | | Just out of curiousity, what is the most number of sites you've explored in a single day (from waking up to going to sleep, or 24 hour clock, whichever is longer)?

| | | My wife and I have done tours that will take us to 8-10 locations, though we don't always get into them all. How about you?

| | | A mere 3 with all being successful. Looking forward to breaking your total in the near future.

| | | 6 in a day, using nothing but public transport and my feet. I got into 1 place, where I'd already been before. It was the worst day ever, it seemed every single place I went had had a huge security upgrade in the last week. Cost me £30 in fares, and 30 minutes of shouting and swearing when I left my brand new tripod in a bush and found out someone had grabbed it while I went round the corner for 2 minutes to check a fence. Luckily, I got it back in the end. 3 was the most number of successful visits in a day to underground/abandoned places. More if you count active buildings/construction sites. | | | I don't think that this is the sort of thing that should be celebrated, but rather lamented as the unfortunate result of full schedules, and imperfect access to time, money and vehicular transportation. The more locations you explore in one day I think the less time and space you give yourself to breathe and pause and really experience and bond with each one. There are moments when it's really appropriate, a few examples I can imagine where there'd be a really mutually reinforcing denominator to the specific sites you were collecting, but in a lot of cases I think we end up worse off when we try to cram a bunch of places into a single afternoon or awake-period of exploring.

| | | I'm kind of with Kowalski on this one. It's great to spend time in places as some places deserve it, however there is a need for doing a lot of locations in a short period of time everyone once and again. Currently the record that we've set was last May in FL with Fubster...we hit up 7 locations in less than 24hours...I think it was about 19hours actually. Hard to say, but that was a special cirumstance... During SEXFEST Carrie and I went to 8 or 9 places in about 36hours or so... [last edit 10/22/2005 2:15 AM by HauntedPA - edited 1 times]

| | | During an urbex-related scavenger hunt, Carrie, HauntedPA and I scampered across Florida non-stop for 19 hours, and while the scavenger hunt itself was fun, there wasn't really too much time spent at each site, and so it was less about exploring and more about finding the stuff on the list. Personally, I prefer to set time out for one exploration at a time (unless you're at an explorers gathering, in which case non-stop all-day exploring is a must). That way, you aren't rushed to get to the next place while there's still light (or dark, depending), and you can linger as long as you want. It just makes for more quality time, in my opinion.
Sometimes, you need to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who it is you're talking to. Then, on your way out, slam the door. |
