Websites dedicated to one location
< on 10/20/2005 1:35 PM >

There are a lot of, for lack of a more creative term, Urban Exploration websites out there.

I have found a lot of sites that are specific to honoring one location.

http://www.mountainsanatorium.net

www.edgewoodhospital.com

and of course

www.northville-tunnels.com

All of these places are gone and the websites are maintained by people that are preserving the memories of these locations.

Just want to see what other sites there ae that lean more towards historic reflection then urban exploration. What are your favorites? These sites may not update or change much due to lack of new material but offer a lot of interesting historical pictures and information.

What are your favorites?

If you were to make a site specific to your favorite location what would it be?

http://www.mantenostatehospital.com is one I like.

There is an abandoned school in Chicago that begs to have a website devoted to it, but I don't like to talk about that place on the forums. I think you know the building I'm talking about...

edit: Why is this in the Great Lakes section? It seems like it should be posted in the Main forum instead. Not a big deal, I'm just sayin'...

That one school? Where the students used to go?

I hear you can get there through a tunnel from the Quarry in St. Paul.

No no, you're confusing it with the other one.

I hear you can get there through a tunnel from the Quarry in St. Paul.

Oh. I won't.
BTW, the school is located at 41°56'51.66"N,87°39'22.87"W and you can get in through the unlocked turnstiles. If anybody asks, tell them you're looking for "Elwood."

Well, I made a single-location site about the first real "location" that I explored, which was the Allied Paper mill in Kalamazoo MI. (http://www.alliedpaper.org) But then I found several other locations and added them to the site, so now the name is a bit on the silly side, really.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware there were sites dedicated to actual locations. Most of the UE sites I've seen were of various UE groups. Thanks for posting. Anyone know of any sites for stuff in / around Houston?

My buddy Goddog's *Byberry/Philadelphia State Hospital* site is fantastic. There's directions, maps, historic pictures and ariel shots, hundreds of pics, everything!

The Ladd School Virtual Museum

A pretty good site, always being updated. As far as I know, there are no other sites with much informative information about the Ladd Center. I considered making one myself, but I simply don't have the time.

I like the clickable map.

Its similar to the one on my site

www.northville-tunnels.com/tour

even the buildings are like stripped down versions of the ones at the wayne county training school. Ladd School rocks.
