| | | This is the old Kent school, built by the WPA in the 1930's. Kent is a gold mine for you Texas UE types, since there are about 25 abandoned buildings. I was short on time, and the school was close, so this is what I have for this time.
Front looking South
The official nameplate
From the rear looking North
Looking Southeast. Behind on the hill are the remains of mill foundations from some sort of massive mining operation, which I assume was the reason for Kent being established in the first place.
Here you can see the oil fired heater area, as evidenced by the chimney. There were also some strange pipes running under what was the floor in this area. I can only guess that it had some sort of under the floor heating system, such as many older houses in Korea had.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | The other buildings are in much better condition. Most appear to still be habitable. All of them appear to be of wood frame construction, including the old railroad depot. I didn't see a cemetary, but you can bet there is one there.
