| | | | Ghost Town of Parsons < on 10/11/2005 3:49 PM >
| | | This town was a mining community in the Sacramento Mountains. Until the 1980's, the old hotel was still standing, but the taggers/firebugs got there and destroyed it. Still a bunch left to see if you have a serious 4 wheel drive or the intention of walking about 15 miles. Remains are spread out along about 3 miles of what is left of a road, and one major structure still has an owner, and he isn't friendly!
All American Mine - Flooded within about 20 feet of the top.
Bunkhouse for Parsons mine. Still has an owner, and he has a 12 gauge.
Lubricant for mine machinery.
Helen Rae processing plant. This thing is about 150 feet tall, and the timbers are 24 inches square.
Steam driven pumps to keep the mines dry. Not the markings on the nose. Made by Rolls Royce!
Sorter/Grader for picking out ore chunks too large to process.
Helen Rae Mine headquarters building.
No job is complete until the paperwork is done.
General store serving the town.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |
