It's called Screaming Bridge. But, you have to be careful that you get the right screaming bridge as there are three bridges in that area with only7 one being the right one. The most popular one isn't it.

Actually I was talking about the crying baby cemetary thing being spooky.

I know all about Screaming Bridge, though. It's hidden in the recesses of Legacy Park. Took some exploring, but the actual site was discovered. I checked it out myself a while back to confirm it.

The bridge you pictured is not the actual Screaming Bridge ass it was built after the girls were killed. The real bridge location is up the road from there and there's no actual bridge anymore. Some people that I was associated with did extensive research into the incident to the point of interviewing people who knew the girls that were killed and lived in the area at the time. There are quite a few newspaper articles archived that deal with the accident that night.

This is the "ramp" leading up to the railroad tracks immediately north of where the bridge was. This ramp was how the cars got airborne. The name Screaming Bridge was in use before the accident due to the fact that everyone screamed as they jumped the short bridge. Police reports stated that if the girls had kept up thier speed, they would have cleared the ravine that the bridge spanned but the girl driving saw the bridge was out, panicked and slammed on her brakes at the last moment causing them to loose momentum and slam head first into the far side of the ravine.

BTW, Don't I know you?

Interesting little story to the bridge there. I need to check it out some time.

As for knowing me, you very well might. I live in Dallas and got a lot of friends and acquaintences.

I haven't actually investigated the place. I just scouted it out for the future. And I was wrong once. So sue me.

hey Dokk, if i'm not mistaken, isn't that the lil railroad crossing that used to be part of Greenbelt rd. before it was basically redirected? Because if that's the case, then your story is also off, because off that hill is more road and the only thing ravine-ish is a small creek that runs through that area, maybe 50yrds from the top of that hill there is a bit of a swamp... if its the correct thing i'm thinking.

In 1961, when the accident happened, there was an actual wooden bridge over the ravine. A culvert pipe was placed, filled around and paved over a some years after the accident to prevent this from happening again. Several years later, two other women were killed on the railroad crossing when thier truck stalled on the tracks and was hit by a train. The crossing arm control box has a memorial chalked on it by the family of the women. The railroad maint. people clean it off and family members put it back up on a regular basis. The bridge pictured above was built quite sometime after the accident in 1961. Also, in 1961, what is now Greenbelt Parkway was then called Arlington - Euless Road. The girls were coming home from the drive-in movie theater that was located on the corner of what is now Highway 10 and Westpark Way. Like I said, we did EXTENSIVE research on this to include interviews with people that were around then, some of whom were involved or related to the accident in some way.
