That looks beautiful and will look even more so when it gets some 'age' on it

Your last photo reminds me of the now-closed hospital in Ironton, OH. Too bad that place is sealed tighter than a dead man's coffin.

Very nice! I was just thinking how I wanted to check out a hospital soon. In fact, I was even thinking of the same sterile green color that you can see in some of these pictures. It looks like it's all on one floor though right? I was hoping for multiple floors but that's ok. What city is this in anyways?

its actually three floors, in dallas. very hot inside, even early in the morning. the operating rooms were cool too, unfortunately this is my best digital pic. i also had my film camera so maybe those turned out better, we'll see when they're developed.

i was having the same thought as seicer, the whole time i was there i was wishing it was 10 or 20 years older.

I'd like to see that one also since the equipment hasn't been moved out yet. I made a trip to one last weekend that was also a 3 floor unit and has been abandoned for about 25 years. The age does make for some interesting pictures, but there is no equipment left inside except the mechanical room. Even the lights in the operating room ceilings are gone. This one must have closed only recently.

You mentioned how "hot" it was inside ... give it some time, and you'll see the paint peeling off fast. Were the walls "sweating"? Because that is a good sign for decay.

its been close about 12 years. i've heard rumors of trying to sell it to another health-type provider or even turning it into a homeless shelter.

the walls weren't sweating, except in the room with the therapy pool, that room wa awfully hot and humid. wonder how long it would take the pool to evaporate with no ventilation...

That's amazing. I have explored hospitals that have been abandoned for 10 years that have been in much worse shape than what you have shown.

they must have some type of maintenence/cleaning crew go through, because although there was broken stuff here and there, overall it was pretty clean. i got the 12 years closed part from a doctor's office down the street, just called up and said "hi, how long has that hospital been closed?" i think they must have thought they'd sell it off quickly so its been taken care of.

by the way if you want to buy the place i found a for sale notice from last year with the price of $1,632,000.00.

all the equipment seems to still be there. funny though, i got some x-rays done yesterday and the equipment they were using looked quite a bit older than that unused stuff. thought they should trade or something...

yeah it look as as if that x-ray equipment was made in 95 or 96 due to is color and construction! older equipment usually has more of a darker creme color to it like ones from the late 80's and such.

Nice stuff indeed. I wonder if there is any radioactive material left in the X-Ray guns, hope not. So, yeah, can you send me beta on this site too, in addition to the mall one. I would be indebted to you.

actually x-ray refraction cylinders do not contain any type of radio active substance they simply create bursts of gama radiation though high frequency magnetic impulses between the two large plates in the cylinder

microwave ovens work off the same principle and dont have iodine or cesium in them either.

That's a Philips/roentgen as far as I can tell... Looks like a 1992-94 vintage, it's hard to tell as the ones we have in Europe tend to come out first and then get adapted and sold to the American market.

Nice pics!! I like!

Chris..

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.
