Here's a West Ft Worth suggestion for you brave people

BTW, I'm new here, and since I'm essentially a wimp, terrified of spiders, and currently have a broken leg, I just like to look at all the wonderful pics you guys take.

In White Settlement, across from the old K-Mart which is now an Academy sports store, there is an old abandoned movie theater. There's also a big building directly across from the movie theater that was going to be a mall, but never got off the ground. I think there's an antique store or something in the mall, but it might be closed now, too. The movie theater is sitting basically in the parking lot of Toys R Us, so you'll probably have to go at night. It's boarded up, but I'm sure some enterprising person can find a way in ;)

Theres a lot of cool places to explore right around where you live and not all of them have spiders!

How'd you break your leg?

Believe it or not, I was leaving a play rehearsal. You know how actors always tell each other, "Break a leg." Well, I tripped on some stairs and fell, snapped both bones in my lower left leg. To make matters better, the play was called "Freak Accident." Hey, if I'm ever on Leno, I have a good story to tell.

I know there's an old falling-down school out here on Hwy 51 that I could get some exterior pics of. There's a chain-link fence around it and the last time I was out there, a mobile home was on the property, so I think someone lives there now. I'm not sure you could actually get inside, as the roof is pretty much caved in, but I wish I could get close enough to at least look in the windows. A woman from my church who is about 95 years old told me she once attended that school when she was a little girl. I can't remember the name of it...something Consolidated School.

Can't think of any place else off the top of my head. Years ago, my husband and I were out driving around Parker County and came across the abandoned town of Bennett, which consisted of a still-functional Acme Brick factory and a bunch of boarded up houses. I'm not sure I know how to find it again, and by now it's probably yuppified, like so much of my lovely county has become. Yuck.

What else do you know of?

That's a nice one. Were you able to get any closer than the road?

Yea, I went up to it and walked around got 6 or 7 shots, just havent precessed for posting yet. I will do them at some point this week and get em up before the weekend. I was surprised it was in such bad shape, it was built in 47, not that old considering the shape it's in. Kinda sad.

Yeah, it is sad. I've lived in Weatherford for 22 years and am always afraid one day I'll find they've bulldozed it. That's what happened to the old hospital, which I never had a chance to explore. Then, with road construction, they managed to wreck the beautiful concrete stairs that used to lead up from the street to the old hospital. All that happened quite a few years ago. I'd sure love to see some pics of that if anyone had been around and taken them before it all went away.
