| | Anyone been to the Seahorse Motel in Galveston? < on 7/4/2005 2:55 PM >
| | | I think that's the name of it. Hotel right on the Seawall, been abandoned for a little bit. Be kinda hard to not attract attention there, though, due to traffic. Just wondering if anyone's seen it. It has a nice and unique little round, glassed-in building out front that I think used to be a sports bar.

| | | I have a few pictures from the front of it. Although, my family and I stopped there on the way home from a cruise and they didn't want to stay long enough for me to explore. The sign.
The right part of the building.
The Club.
The pool.

| | | The only time you could possibly explore that place unseen is at night. And even then there are a lot of cars driving past there... We drove past there at 2 A.M. and there were still a lot of other cars on the road. Also, it didn't look to interesting to explore anyway.

| | | Nice pictures. You could always say you were just looking for a room to rent if you're stopped while exploring. Which isn't too hard to believe considering the condition of some of the other motels in the area.

| | | I haven't been to the Seahorse, but I have explored an abandoned Sea World-type aquarium in Galveston, at the end of the seawall road. Though I can't pinpoint the location exactly (I was only there for a couple of days), you can see the building from the road. If you drive down along the seawall, you should see it off to your right, opposite the sea. Apparently, Galveston is one of those towns that have seen better days; I remember seeing quite a few abandoned sites in the area, though I only had the opportunity to explore this one.

| | | Porfzilla and I were in Galvez about a month ago. The Seahorse has been demolished.

| | | I was in Galveston yesterday (moving there for school) and I stumbled across that abandoned aquarium thing! It was totally by accident (crazy wrong turn looking for walmart, ha) and remembered seeing pictures on here some months ago. Long story short, I came home and registered, yay.

| | | Oh gosh, that is so freaky! I used to live in Houston when I was a teen, back in the seventies. Every time friends or family came to visit us, we'd take them to all the touristy places, including Sea-Arama. It was a great place back then. They had water-skiing stunts and a bunch of exhibits. How odd to see these pics. I didn't even realize the place was still there, but I haven't been to Galveston in several years.

| | | What a shame. It used to be a neat little place. It was never fancy, but we had a few good times there. Been drunk out of my mind lying on the grass in front of the round building!
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |
