| | | Posted by GreyDeath How about a simple icon or text phrase indicating which location is level 3 only or not? I mean something nice and big a clear and easily visible from the list of various locations as well as from the main page of a location. Would be nice. -Me!
|
If its demolished or marked public access, its not level 3. Everything else is.

| | | Dunno if this was already suggested, but it'd be great if we could set location favourites. Places we visited or would like to visit. Sort of a link on the location page that says 'Add to Favourites' or something. Currently(as far as I know) the only way to do this is to bookmark each location individually, or search the DB, which can be a labourious process. Edit: Unless the 'Subscribe Location' does something similar? [last edit 9/2/2005 11:30 PM by Disgrace - edited 1 times]

| | | Could the icon next to the link in the location listings be linked to "next unread item" instead of the entry information page?
All information and details given in good faith but not guaranteed! |

| | | It would be cool if the DB kept track of "views" the way forum messages do. Not necessarily for each individual picture or even each gallery if that is complicated, it could just be for the entry itself...

| | | Posted by Avatar-X Some sort of UE Search / Sort engine, allowing you to search/sort by the various criteria. Intergrate with the forum search engine so posts in a location can be searched |
Yep.
Posted by Avatar-X Intergrate better with the forum so forumgoers know about the DB and actually use it! |
Maybe set up the forum so that it posts a "New DB Updates" thread automatically to a list at the top of the correct local forum, when someone creates a location or uploads a new gallery. If you set up a separate list that was tacked to the top of the forum page (like this topic is in), it'd be very visible, but still out of the way. The thread could be generated automatically, and list basic info about the location, feature a couple random photographs and a link to the DB entry. After the topic sees no replies for a week, it could just drop into the normal forum, or delete itself. There could even be an "update thread" button while editing a location, that would find the old topic in the local forum, and generate a post with the updated material, and stick it back in the top section. This would let people know about the DB, and new entries without being too invasive. It also might help eliminate all the "Anyone ever been to ....?" threads, if DB locations had their own corresponding thread to request and receive information in.

| | | Also, there's some old DB entries in my area that I want to clean up. Aside from harassing the original creators to fix things, is there a way around this? Can a location be set to some kind of public mode where any L3 user can edit anything? Or can a location's creator list certain entry-specific caretakers who can modify the entry? Or can the owner of the DB entry be changed? What other features can't I edit if I don't own the entry? [last edit 12/26/2005 10:47 PM by ian_evil - edited 1 times]

| | | I know it's old, but I just came across this (hey, at least I'm looking at old stuff )
Posted by Avatar-X SO if not Australia, then which of the 7 continents is it part of?
|
Posted by MacGyver Australia is both a country and a continent. My understanding is that continental Australia encompasses the country Australia as well as a few outlying islands and stuff. Continental North America contains America, United States of, as well as other countries, including Canada and Mexico.
|
New Zealand is definitely not part of Australia as a country or a continent. Oceania is the definitely a better term although it's usually used for sports such soccer/football World Cup qualifiers and such. Sometimes you'll see the continent described as Australia/Oceania, but the continent of Australia is just one country, Australia. (more info here). Here is a map of Oceania. Australasia is another term used to describe the area. Here is a map of Australasia. Cheers, Doug.

| | | How about a common gallery for anyone to post a nice picture or two that don't really deserve their own gallery? I have a fair collection of pictures of locations that I may wish to share, but I'd rather not create a gallery for a single or a couple photos.

| | | Could the red dot not be activated when a location is validated (or re-validated)? It gets confusing cause when I see the red dot, I'm expecting to see new/changed information.
