|  | | | anyone from the southport area?? i grew up in formby and moved to canada in 82. i only found out recently about the street under nevil street. my father used to work at the arcade at the entrance to the pier and was priveledged to see down below one day. he was unable to go right in but confirmed with a flashlight that there is still stores and a road down below. he has spoke to people who have been down there and they confirmed that it is all there.
i attached a pic to provoke curiosity. this is an old pic and shows the road before a roof was built over top. the road is now at the level just above the signs on the lower stores. my father is currently in england and is taking pics from the same spot so a comparison can be made.

Not from southport, but anywhere in the UK is within the scope of getting there and back in the same day really, if your that determined to see it! Read about this location before in a thread on a UK UE forum http://www.darkplaces.co.uk, definitely sparked our interest and we're contemplating taking a look! I know that a few other people have recce'd the location with little success, but we'll see for ourselves what's what when we get there! Thanks for bringing this back to my attention mate!

| | | | back in the day (1980) there was an electrical/mechanical room under the pier, at the back of this room is a small passage leading to a railing type fence, beyond the fence is nevil street. that is as far as my dad got. far enough to see shop fronts. the is a southport site i believe www.southport.gb.com there is a forum section where nevil st. has come up many times. sadly it is not 1980 and the people my father new are no longer there otherwise it would have been easy access.
