|  | | | I was watching an Australian made film with Russel Crowe last night, titled Romper Stomper. A good film about Neo-Nazis in Australia, and in one part of the movie they hide out in an abandoned hanger/warehouse, the female lead leaves the Neo Nazi groups and when she is walking along the building you can clearly see a Tag the says "Cave Clan". Are you guys aware of this movie, do you know where it was filmed?
I got a kick out of seeing a tag I recognize.

It's set around Footscray, in Melbourne, and according to the Inaccurate Movie Database it was filmed there and in Newport.
The movie's quite famous here in Australia, being Crowe's first big lead. I've not spotted the CC tag there before, but I've only seen the movie a couple of times, and that was about ten years ago.
I'd love to see a screencap. It might have been an actual tag, or just part of set decoration. Either's possible.

It is also just before or just after the scene where the girl who leaves the group phones the cops to tell them where they are hiding. She walks by the tag, so look carefully.

| | | | The tag was done by yours truly. If you look really carefully you can see a blurry second tag a few meters a long.
The building is in St Georges Road, Northcote. I'm pretty sure it was the Windsor Smith factory (locals may know Windsor Smith for their sexist shoe ads). The Windsor Smith building was not the building they were squatting in.
Northcote was the home of the Cave Clan and when we started in the mid 80s we were doing a bit of graffiti around the place... not aerosol art... just stuff like "Cave Clan - go in drains".
Anyway, the actress Jacqueline McKenzie quickly walks by the building on the way to the phone and then to Davey Boy's grandmother's house. The house is actually around the corner from the tag so they actually had the continuity right.
Incidentally, the actor who played Davey Boy killed himself before the film was released.

The tag was painted over about ten years a go.
The building in Northcote that had the tag on it was not abandoned.
The abandoned building in Footscray was there for years after the film, but is long since gone.

Ha... famous... yes indeed.
I suppose having your face shown to everyone on a BBC story after they said it wouldn't be shown in Australia and having people call you a TV star and giving you all kinds of crap makes a blurry tag in a movie pale into insignificance ;)
Plus there is a competition on the original Cave Clan video where you can win $10,000 if you can spot the tag.
I'd be pretty sad if I was still telling people about it 15 years later
