I just thought someone might like to know that theres a few sales coming up that might be of some interest.
Canadian tire has a 20% off sale on there Maglites. As far as i can tell this covers there AAA Maglite right up to the 4D cell lights Prices range from 8 to 30 bucks.

If you were thinking about getting your self a one million candle power light then home depot has what you need. Comes with both an AC and a DC charger for only 15 bucks. (available on the 11 and 12 only)

Canadian tire also has a 10 million candle power light on sale for 60 bucks. Includes AC and DC charger.
Sale starts on the 11, hope this info comes in handy for someone.

Thanks for the info.

I've been looking into getting a spotlight type light for draining. Anyone have any recommendations for one that has a long battery life? I've heard that they only last for like half an hour.
Also, is there a big difference between a 1 and 10 million candlepower spotlight?

I have the WorkForce Sport Spot 1 million CP from the Depot. I rarely use it but it is nice and compact, and bright ($5 from the discount table ).

Nice find, I have a colemans 1 million CP light but I payed 25 bucks at a different store. If any one would like I can watch the fliers and if i see something interesting I can let everyone know, I get to see the flyers 4-5 days before they're released to the public.

Bah. I really don't know about this candlepower stuff. Would it be worth spending the extra money to buy a 10 million candlepower light, instead of a 1 million?

buy.com is selling the Princeton Tec Surge for a pretty good price right now.

They usually seem to go for $25 to $35 (US) from my quick research, but you can get one for about $18 there. They are listed for $20, but there is a $2 off thing going right now (not sure ont he details) and the light qualifies for free shipping. Winner situation all-around.

The light it's self gets high reviews from several sources. It's waterproof, and I think it's actually a shallow-level dive light. It uses a xenon bulb that operates on eight AA batteries. The way the batteries are hooked up, you can run it on just four if you are short on batts or want the light to be more bouyant, but burn time and brightness are reduced.

The light has a flip switch that is supposed to be easy to operate with gloves on, and the light is brighter than a Brinkmann Legend LX, which is the brightest flashlight I have personally witnessed to date. The Legend LX runs on painfully expensive CR123A camera/tactical batteries (like $5 to $15 APIECE at stores or $1 apiece from hong kong) whereas the Surge can be run on readuly available alkalines.

Burn time is about four hours, compared to the Legend LX's one hour or so. My surge will be arriving sometime soon, and I have high hopes for it.

I grabbed a Rayovac Sportsman 3-in-1 headlamp for $13 from an evil Wal-mart and can't imagine exploring without it. Three modes:

WHITE LED: Just the right amount of light for night exploring. Gently illuminates the area in front of you without being too bright. Makes items crisp and unmistakeable. Makes for interesting photography too.

RED LED: For low-profile movement and minimal light.

KRYON LAMP: For standard miner's light, focusable.

Uses 3 AAA batteries, is watertight and can last 20-30 hours in LED mode. Double headbands (horiz/vert), padded rest and adjustable aim (up/down). I still pack my big black maglight but this makes things just a bit easier. Maglights can be just a tad too bright to get good night vision.

Virtually every explorer in the Twin Cities area seems to own one of these headlamps. They aren't incredibly bright, but the price is right and they're pretty versatile for the package size. As a side benefit, if you're using it in the krypton mode and the light suddenly goes from normal to dead (it happens over about ten seconds, so don't expect any real warning), there is still quite a bit of useful light left in the red LED mode. This saved my butt one time.

OK, i have to plug the streamlight 4AA flashlight. 7 bright ass LED's, used AA batteries, very long battery life, almost indestructable, waterproof, and approved for use in pretty much all hazardous conditions. All for $30. i just traded a friend an Inova X5 for one and I'm glad i did. It's really a great light!
