The post deletion feauture is cool! (though for the non-mods it only works in your journal, so it might be in place like this for some time allready.)

Thanks anyway!

The deletion has (almost) always been a moderator-only feature since the forums were created.

Av: If it's not a difficult change, would it be possible to not have the "remove" link show on posts for any given user unless they actually can delete that post (such as with a moderator or in a person's journal)? I see people confused by this relatively often.

Yeah actually I was quite confused by that once. I made an angry hasty post then thought better of it, and THOUGHT I deleted it. next day I see angry replies in return and I'm almost shitting my pants.

ya, for a minute, I though AV was actually realizing that people should be allowed to delete something they say

we all have days of haste, and being permantly haunted by it sucks.

And hence you learn from it. With no consequence, there is no lesson learned.

Because you get people posting things and then deleting it to try to say they didn't say it. It gets messy and kinda nasty.

I think the lesson is "think before you post". It not only makes you consider the reaction to your message, but also give you time to produce a well-crafted response rather than a hasty emotional rant.

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

Aside from flaming - if you honestly think it's somehow helpful - most things that are good for your soul do not piss other people off.

actually my girlfriend is good for my soul - but the fact that we are together piss some people off, my take on internet flaming is its like when you get mad in real life and just want to punch something, well online you just hit the keys hard and whatever comes out of it does.
