| | High detail aerial photos, more online goodness < on 6/19/2003 7:17 PM >
| | | I can't speak for everyone, but my county govornment has a searchable database online where you can zoom in on aerial photos of the city with a one foot per pixel image resolution (beats the hell out of MapQuest and TerraServer). You can add map overlays of street light locations, sewer drains, streams, railroad tracks, etc. Great for UE recons. I'm not sure what the department is that runs this, but if I search Google for "pima county maps" it's the first hit. Try it for your county/province! Additionally, my County Assessor's office has an online database of all properties in the city. I can plug in an address, see who owns the property, if it is considered abandoned, how much it's worth (a good indicator of the level of security to expect) and other fun facts.

| | | I found a site like that for Anchorage, it doesn't have drains or utility overlays but you can overlay streams and look for long straight sections or streams running under streets. It's only slightly better resolution than terraserver but it's in color!

| | | St Paul has one too. It was password protected a while back, but I still have a bunch of relevant maps and stuff from it, as well as a way back in if I need it.

| | | Sweet. I wonder if Maricopa county has one of these too. One meter/pixel just isn't good enough =(

| | | Heh. Maybe we should team up and hit some sites. I'd be down with a weekend in Phoenix for some UE and night clubbing. Or you could come down to Tucson and watch the paint dry. ;)

| | | Don't complain about Tuscon! I wish I was down there, all those missle silos and that airplane graveyard at the old Davis-Monthan base! Jealousy ensues. But yeah, maybe we could all team up, I just found some cool places (detailed in another thread) Scouting missions will be required first. After my last fiasco I'm reducing all risks as much as possible.

| | | I think you have a distored mental image of our missile silos. Imagine a slab of concrete on the ground just about the size of a small apartment. THAT'S IT. That's what all the missile silos look like unless you take the guided tour of the only one left that they haven't filled with concrete. Which I recommend highly (in fact I'd go with you), it's just not exactly UE. Same for the airplane graveyard. Come on down!

| | | They filled them all? Damn what a gyp. There's got to be one or two still around. I hear there's one right by a restaruant that's owned by the proprieters. May not be the purest form of UE, but both are byproducts in my mind. That graveyard sounds so cool. Now, can I trust my car to make the round trip... | | | Tucson is boring and scary. That said, yes, I do go to ASU, but I'm graduating in a month, and I'd really like to get into the tunnels but with my luck, I'll be busted too. The city of Tempe is a police state.

| | | Fratrat, you probably could explore the tunnels, I'd say get in and get out quick. There are several exits that don't go into a building. I take no responsibility if you get caught though, of course.
