Maps- topo or street?

I understand(esp. where i live) that topo maps can help find drain locations, but living in the mountains limits their size. would drains follow the roads more or the topography. there are bike trails in the woods in front of my house that have sanitation lines in them so it got me wondering. But due to the nature of things around here my best bet would be to just roof buildings. There is an abandoned Eckered's building at the beginning of my road that has occaisional cleanup crews, but the doors are locked. There is a new AF Financial building being built, but they are almost done so i dont know if i can get in there without B/E. There is a strip mall that just made an addition and has these two storage rooms that are unlocked underneath them, and the local college (ASU) has a "Convocation Center" (looks more like a prison) that i know my friend had roofed. to my knowledge there aren't any buildings big enough to really "explore" without having to drive for an hour to find. all of the things i have listed are within walking distance. (Kinda got off subject, but giving my background.)

one of the colleges there has a underground tunnel system for when the weather is way to cold and icey. That way you can get to class.

hmm, how obvious and still unobserved by myself! We don't have the tunnels for inclimate(sp?) weather, just two tunnels that go under a road for students to cross safley. nothing to it, but noone cares if you tag it or not. the tunnels that you speak of might beat Western Carolina U. but i would have to look into it. oh, and the college is building a new library, i forgot to memtion that.

*not* i do not support tagging of UE sites at all.*

I have topo maps on CD for the entire Northern California area and they have proved more than once to prove useful in finding sites. I live and swear by them...
