I think it would be nifty if you were playing with a camera to just twist that think just right. That way you could see though the apature and snap your shot. Pretty neat.

if you are talking about the ones that were on TV a while back, those waste batteries pretty well. from the way you describe it- "I can put it around my waste(sic)" it sound like the one that i had; that thing just ate batteries.

i think the problem was the electricity had to go so far to reach the bulb, and with all of the turning and whatnot ot weore out the wiring.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Ok, ok, so there is *some* effect of wire length on resistance; in fact, it's linear. R = rho*A*L, but rho is so small it would not cause the batteries to drain faster. More likely it just used small batteries and/or had a crappy, inefficient bulb.

Sorry, I just see "common sense" assumptions about electricity and I have to pounce...

ok them maby i can look into picking up a more efficent bulb. that would save the trouble of trying to re wire the thing with more battries.

you could always try and rig up an LED setup. They sell conversion kits for mini mags that'll replace the bulb with an energy-efficient and pretty damn bright LED array. Or youcould try and rig Macgyver your own conversion with a couple Luxeon LEDs, even brighter and still plenty battery, effficient.

Or perhaps if you wired the bendy bit up to a bigger maglight body, with more batteries. You could still just drop it in your pocket it and point it at whatever you're doin. And if you run into a violent hobo you can then use it as either a bludgeon, or a flail : P

I have a snake light, I haven't ever used it for UE'ing... I know it wastes a lot of batteries and the light is very weak... It's been sitting at my cottage for several years actually.
