| | | Put the city in your rearview. < on 2/3/2014 10:04 PM >
| | | This once booming town from the 1800s now sits as the harsh Ohio weather withers it away. Upon entering the small cluster of buildings you get a real sense emptiness, a mini Chernobyl as my friend referred to it. After seeing the decaying store fronts, crumbing diners, and the battered other buildings, we were stopped by a lady from the local bar. (The only building still in use or inhabited by anyone) She asked us what we were doing, and after explaining to her our fascination of this small town, she excitedly began telling us a bit about her families experiences here. She began to tell us about a time when the building across the street caught fire more then 70 or so years ago, and how when her father was just a boy he had to be part of a bucket brigade to help bring water from the only pond to extinguish the blaze. She also said that the main reason for these buildings to be abandoned was due to the lack of plumbing, and was unable to meet city code. Lastly she told us of the times when bodies would be transported by horse and buggy right though town to arrive at the local cemetery a few miles west of here. sadly, night was quickly approaching and we had to leave. There is still a lot to explore here, and I will definitely be planning a retuning trip.
Antique shop becomes an antique itself.
All wrapped up.
Before mass production, milk was most likely produced here for the local towns folk.
The comfiest most chill place I've been to.
Silo.
Keepin it classy with that dish.
A storefront succumbed to fire. Taken in almost total darkness.
That moment when you forget to read English.
Rooftop garden.
Chemicals and cornfields.
1950s gold trimmed depression glass.
Last known photo.
Wading.
This was the racoons room. They have impeccable taste.
Also, nearby was the largest statue of Mary. My photos of it got ruined. Nonetheless here's a link. You don't know how bad I wanted to climb this. Lol.
