| | | I wish I had better photos of this location. The building was built in 1901 in what, at the time, was a particularly seedy area. Apparently the upper floors housed a brothel and at the time of these photos had been abandoned for many many years while the main (active) floor has been everything from, in the past, a general store to, more recently, a high-end boutique. A salvage crew had gone through and gathered a lot of things from the upper floor but a lot of amazing antiques were still left behind when I visited; from old wooden washing machines and vacuum cleaners to random records and other nicknacks. I regret not getting better/more photos but kept putting off a return visit, left the country, and now, years later, the upper floors were finally renovated into office space. 1. The building can be seen in the center-right of this 1904 photo. Can't seem to find any good historic photos online of the front.

3. A bunch of small rooms to fit a bed and not much more. Really pushing the old-timey brothel feeling. Seems a staircase used to lead down to the middle floor but (not sure if it was in the original design or a later addition) the building also connected to the neighboring 2-floor building which then lead downstairs.

9. Note the giant beam that was put in during retrofitting after a certain large earthquake.
