What's to see in Richmond and DC??

Hello! So here's the thing...my friend and I are planning a trip from Atlanta up to Richmond, VA and DC next spring for a vaca/exploration/photo book idea dealing with not only the beauty of traveling in general, including what we all do here, but also as an experiment in our personal perceptions of reality, which I am particularly interested in. I would LOVE to find some really great spots to photograph for this project in these cities or anywhere in between. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on places to check out. (We will of course research this ourselves too, but word of mouth can be far more beneficial sometimes) Please feel free to send a private message to me on here if posting info publicly isn't preferred. Not trying to swoop in on anyone's secret spots, but a few off the beaten track locations would make this all the more amazing. Oh and I hope I've posted this in the correct place. If not just let me know. I'm a bit new to this site. Thanks!!

Not to be mean ... since you are new here you may not realize just how frowned and laughed upon this kinda request is. Sounds like you have ample time to find spots or promising areas to scout through for yourself. It is your book project after all. Good luck

It's not exploring if you just have people tell you where to go. That's tourism. Google is an endless resource dude, put it to use. It's much more rewarding to find a place and get in on your own.
