Press Pass To The Art Show [Abandoned factory filled with graffiti]

More than 30,000 sq feet of a 3-story abandoned factory was (sorta) recently turned into a gigantic showcase gallery for local artists.
The building, which has been empty for years, is planned to soon be refurbished into offices. The owner of the building, however, sits on the board of the Oakland Museum of California and is involved in local culture and art and decided to temporarily donate the building to local artists for a large-scale mural exhibition.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the show while it was going on -- so I made my own trip and we got the entire building to ourselves...
(It was early in the morning, so pictures came out a little dark, but I'm glad I made it to this one before it's [supposedly] demolished soon)

Funny story, I snuck into this place about a week before the show and said to myself "this is the best F'in graffiti I've ever seen!"

I went to the show too, which turned into a shitshow because all of the local taggers decide to hit up all of the local businesses. I can respect the art...but I hate the people.

Words of wisdom

Great set as usual pgathriller.

We have something similar to this in LA; It's a very old brewery grown over with vines and plant life that they use for 'art walks'.

It's an interesting concept and I'm glad they keep a few places like these in decent shape, but still...what siper said.

Yeah, unfortunately the show attracted a lot of local taggers who just ran around putting up shit all over the surrounding buildings after the show
