Country club and rural downtown

Hello,

Hopefully these images are not annoyingly large? Let me know if so.

These are from a couple very low risk outings, but were from before I'd ever heard the term UE (which was just recently).

Back last Christmas, I was visiting my parents in small town, Arkansas and did some exploring in the town while there.

The first area was a (fairly) recently abandoned country club.

Overgrown golf course:
1.

Forgotten tennis courts:
2.
3.
4.

I regret not getting a good shot of the swimming pool. I'll probably go to this spot again when I visit my parents again though.

The next area I went to was the "downtown" area.
These buildings would have been built between 1900 and 1930 I think.

The insides of a building that burned down a long time ago:
5.
6.

Apparently, my mom had taken my brother and me there to watch it while it was burning. I can't remember this though.

Doorway to heaven? This was near the burned building.
No idea what used to be in this spot:
7.

#6 needs more!
I bet 7 had a deck or sun porch that is long gone.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

The building looks like it was pretty cool. Did you get any pics of the inside, if there was anything left?

I had already been doing some exploring before I knew there was an actual name for it too.

Edit: Pic size is good to me.

agreed on pic size. "I" try to avoid uploading pic sizes that make you use the scroll bar (like this pic if you click the enlarge/mouse pointer http://upload.wiki...Oceanside_Pier.jpg )

That is from the inside of the building. There is no roof left, so it's fully exposed to the sun. The signs on the ground in #5 were inside. Those boarded up doors in #6 led to the street. There was actually very, very little inside. It was mostly dirt, leaves and small trees. I have another picture of a different wall, but it's less interesting than the one here. If it's the building my mom thought it was, it burned probably 25 years ago.

And whether or not a person has to use a scroll bar will depend on the size of their window and resolution. I might look into using a flickr account or perhaps picasso which should let me choose the resolution I link.
