I was just checkin' this out on an aerial map. Where the fuck do you park? There's nothing but a few single houses and trees as far as the eye can see. I can see why folks get busted here. Them cops just wait by the car. No businesses anywhere.

Haha, I always wondered that about this place. I would like to know as well.

Did you know that one of our nation's Presidents was assassinated under that very oculus? Awesome shit, right there.

Dang I keep seeing photos from this place. I've been looking to go for a couple months now but just haven't found the time. PLus I have the getting caught in the back of my mind too obviously. Great pics! Each set I see from here gets more and more interesting. I'll be there at some point for sure.

Yeah, I just did another scan of the area and even at the reservoir you're pretty-much screwed. It appears to all be luck and timing, like so much of the good shit is.

Amazing they allow a place to just sit and rot and yet have the man power to arrest and fine someone for just taking a photo, maybe that's by design , a bait and trap to make a buck for the locals. I wonder how much crime was committed while they were arresting the friend and doing the actual booking.

Very nice photos, humidity is a real killer, can't live with it or with out it.

I agree with you, but its really the State of New York that has taken the power out of the historical society that is trying to save it.

Wow, what an awesome location. From your photos, it looks like there hasn't been much of a problem with taggers and vandals (from what I can tell). I wonder why the people living nearby would take it upon their time to call the cops on people even if they're taking exteriors. Looks like a massive property. How much time did you guys spend inside?

We spent a good 5-6 hours I believe inside. There is a preservation society that is failing hard at keeping this place up. Also, the oculus (glass dome) was where William McKinley was shot & later died from the wound at the oculus' original location which was later moved to this place.

I actually had no idea the risks involved when I explored this location. It wasn't until after that I heard all the stories and it kinda took me by surprise considering how easy access seemed to be.

Yup. Well aware of it. A friend was tasked with creating the historical society's new website - but they are still waiting for funding. Stupid NYS keeps hoping up on transferance of property to them. Ugh.

This is exactly why I'm hesitant. It's either park far away where your car fits in and pull the hike or risk parking close and being seen. I'll elect the hike any day. Rather be safer than sorry.
