I would be surprised if there wasn't already a thread for this location but I couldn't find one. Sorry if it's a repeat.

Same.

Nice set though. Were you able to climb to the top in number 2?

What is it? Only thing that comes to mind is water storage or something but the barbwire makes it harder to think of ideas

Big ups for getting down inside there caribooou. I've been out there to shoot from the top but just thinking about climbing down inside without having someone with legit rope skills securing me from above, gives me sweaty palms.

For those that can't tell, the top rungs of that ladder have been cut off to prevent people from casually climbing down inside.

Someone told me they'd climbed down inside on a rope but once inside, their rope had been cut from someone outside. They said they had to climb up the ladder and stand on the top rung of that ladder to get themselves out.

In regard to the question about what it is... it's was reservoir built in 1902 for a nearby power plant. It held over 8 million gallons of water and when it was full people used to row boats in there. It was emptied in 1934.

(I found this history online).

Hmm, maybe I need a more specific title to avoid confusion.

My guess it that it was an old water reservoir or something like that...it's about three stories tall I would guess. You can kind of gauge the size of it if you look at the normal sized pieces at the bottom of the Phaze roller, and compare how tall the roller is compared to the normal pieces.

And sorry to disappoint but I did not climb down. Lame, I know. My friend was kind enough to bring my camera on the descent. You can barely see my face peeking over in #2. He's probably a foot taller than me and a way better climber and it was bad for him getting back out. I would love to climb down but there's no way I'd be able to get back out with the current ladder situation. To get back up you have to have your feet and your hands on the top rung and somehow stand up without losing your balance. Maybe next time I'll be more prepared.

A lot of good history down there though.

I was scouting this location with my friend, and he was peaking over the edge. I never got a chance to climb up, because just as he peeked over a Fire-Department pickup truck circled around, and told us to disappear before he called the cops.

We left... for now. I was thinking about getting / building a rope ladder for the top, but even with that it's so sketch. You need a ladder on both sides, but the outside is only like 8ft high.

Hey that looks like FUN!

Nice pics man.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

Thanks Therrin and Austtie.

Yeah, and even if you had a rope ladder, no guarantee someone wouldn't just cut it down while you were down there, like what PTW was saying. We found a steel (?) rope that had been cut, so whoever cut it's probably pretty serious about keeping people out/in.
