And then a few years later it is torn down and you are significantly better at capturing scenes like that, and you don't get a chance to re-shoot before demolition...it sucks...

Absolutely. I'd kill to reshoot some long gone places with what I know now. Oh well.

Of course. It's good in a way though, it helps you pay a little more attention to every place you visit afterwards. Some folks on here have been doing this for decades, they have seen dozens of great abandonments fall.

YES!

I would gladly give at least two limbs, an eye and maybe a testicle to be able to shoot the Philadelphia State Hospital with the experience I have now!
Fuck!

THIS
Even though it was the biggest shit hole ever, it was THE BEST shit hole ever! Nothing will ever be able to top the insanity that went on during one of the big 100-200+ people parties that happened from time to time! Absolute anarchy! i LOVED it! (but security, cops, and the FD hated it lmfao)
I was able to get a few cool shots in my hundreds of visits, but i really wish i could travel back in time with a real dslr and my slightly improved skills to reshoot it haha. Back then, i was using the first dslr LIKE camera. The infamous sony dsc-f707!

It actually performed very well (great in low light) but it was limited because of the permanent lens, 30 second exposure time, so-so sensor, and it got extremely noisy if you touched the ISO

Absolutely.

Or didn't bring enough film because I was super cheap so even if the image was garbage, I still barely have images from that location.

And i only explore with the strobe setting. The standard setting is for squares. People tend to get a little upset with me, but it's the only way to truly live. -Relik

At least we saw them while they were standing, there are many who would give up a limb just to see what we got to see about 6-7 years ago. We should be counting our blessings, not tainting them with misplaced regret.

legit. I would add "about 20 or 25 years- back before we thought to bring a camera"
