*Sigh* Memories....
I used to love going to this place as a teen.
I'd rock the hell outta those batting cages and I even got maced there once by security! (imagine, this was BEFORE pepper spray )
I feel bad for all the local kids, even though it was a little run down it was lotsa fun and the management was really cool.
I applied for a management position there a few years back and the guy that interviewed me gave me tons of tokens and free golfing/racing passes. Clyde and I spent that whole day having a blast....but it's a good thing we didn't hit the snackbar....cuz on this particular trip it was infested with cockroaches

So after 35 years of providing good, clean (roaches aside), family fun to tons of kids, this place went belly-up. The property owners (next door) raised the rent and the lease wasn't renewed so the story goes

Great Job! The write-up made me laugh, you guys are too funny!

All the tacky colors and carpets, strange murals and machines remind me of my childhood. There's a place near me that looks exactly like this (just less ravaged).

Also, the Michael Jackson racing licence is awesome yet slightly creepy...

On second thought, I'm not a big fan of the new title.

I was wondering if someone was going to check this place out. Nice shots! I had to go there a few times for work and the staff was always really friendly. My son and I played miniature golf a few times, but it always seemed a bit run down, more so now though...

This thread looks so familiar.

I feel myself compelled to rant about stickers...

But I'm afraid that'd make me look like a TOTAL douchebag. So I wont.

Thanks Jeff,
Yes, sadly it was slowly falling apart. We visited another abandoned one in Socal back in 09 or 2010. Dunno where the heck kids can go for fun anymore.

Funny, I'm on Combigan and Lumigan. My doctor explained to me that in this wonderful world of technology we can take liquid eyedrop medications which not only serve MANY TIMES BETTER to aid our eyes with what they aren't able to do on their own (in some of our cases), but that it also accomplishes that task without the need for us to be stoned all day.

HE says that people who smoke weed "for their eyes" are liars, and are using every excuse they can to be dope fiends, no matter if there are better, cheaper alternatives.

Huh. Kinda makes me wonder which one is right.

I think the buyer or "real" workers might already be at work because there's some official spray paint used to mark off the underground infrastructures. Don't have pictures... Inside the Castle, there was a modem looking thing that was powered on about 2 weeks ago. Now it's off. And the track building is locked for privacy. Unofficially there's also a freshly painted tag on the freeway side of the castle. OK, THANK YOU FOR THE LOCATION.

There was an article about the sale of this property in the Mercury yesterday. It's going to be offices soon, blah...

I never actually went here but I like he captures. Sad to see it go, one less place for the kiddies.

I recently visited this place about a week before it was closed, to pay my last respects. I grew up near that area, and had been there several times during my youth. I can't wait to check it out now that it's "crossed over" into the world of Urban Ex. I'll post back when I get around to it ...

Can someone explain the title of this thread??

Anyway, today we pre-dawned this place, which was a good thing too. We took photos from sunrise ~7:00am to 8:00am, and workers showed up in green vests around 7:36am.

Either they didn't notice us, or our stealth mode was dialed up to 11, since we just casually walked away from the golf course into the race track area. Despite workers arriving at the golf course, that didn't stop our mission. The POE for the race track building was glaringly obvious so we couldn't help but take a tour. Afterwards we had time to shoot the track itself... all without being bothered.

This was an interesting trip for sure, but I wish we had gotten into the castle - probably for the better that we didn't.

1. The contents of the storage shed are revealed:

2. Someone had removed all the lamp shades... and started working on the carpet:

3. So sad

4.

5. We righted the fallen tower:

6. The creepy thing, is that after 35 years of operation, the outside of the castle still smelled like freshly cooked cheap Sysco food.

7. Inside the shops

8. Seems like this has been boarded up more than the previous photos in this thread:

9. Racetrack office:

#3 is cool really. I heard it was spring loaded and successful shots activate the mechanism. So a bunch of players made the shot, but due to lack of maintenance, all the balls got stuck and the mechanism wouldn't reset...

Thanks for the writeup bonnie&clyde!

Man they're demolishing this place? Now how do I fight my boredom in traffic? Guess I need to check this place out before they demolish it all.

oh my gawd....

i cant believe you posted this location on uerz... now everyone will go there and tag it up and the cops will bring Micheal Jackson(ghost) and make the busts because now-a-days exploring is a federal offence that will land you in The Guantanamo Bay detention camp.... good job people. stuff like this never happens in the great lakes area b/c we have a super hard core group that polices us and publicly shames us is we stray from the rulez there.

now that i have voiced all my negative opinions on the way y'all explore in the PSW, I have to say that this place looks awesome and a lot of fun! Its hard to get better locations with little to no tags or vandalism these days. hell- it looked like a weekend spent working hard and you could reopen this place in a week or less.

the pano's caught my eye as well as #3 in the first set.

nice job all the way around.

cdevon

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.
