How to deal with levelled finds?

I think I curse every bit of abandoned property I find 1 week to a month later after I even think of visiting it, it disappears. How do you deal and keep attention off yourself while you snap shots for later study? Does this happen to others as well?

You just have to deal with it as being part of this hobby. Abandoned buildings aren't guaranteed to last. Construction equipment usually shows up a few days before a site is demolished, so if you ever see it, hurry up and get in. If something gets demolished, just be happy that you got to see it and take pictures when it was still standing, and move on.

I explored a house a few months ago that is gone now. I was glad I did. I would be kicking myself if I had never explored it.

When you watch a place enough and put effort in it to find an entrance; it is a serious let down for us who are just starting out. It is like reading a book or painting. I put emotional investment into a location. But not everyone shares that so knowing how to deal is nice.

Its a let down for every one of us, whether we are starting out or not to find something levelled, as we all put effort into finding locations, scouting them out, finding a poe etc. If you lose one location, put the effort into finding something new. This hobby wouldn't be half as fun if we all explored the same locations countless times. Not trying to be an asshole as I am new here myself, but if you are unable to deal with losing a location, you should possibly find a new hobby, or explore active locations instead.

I believe it happens to all the active explorers. It's a matter of statistics. My "first" explore is a flat plot of ground now.

Much more disturbing for those of us who explore old mines is how quickly they are being blasted/gated/bulldozed/foamed shut. I can somewhat understand making vertical shafts in recreation areas, but some of these mines are way the heck in the middle of nowhere. I've heard of more than one Eagle Scout project where an abandoned mine was destroyed in the name of safety. No consideration to historical significance or artifacts, just close it....

While there are always buildings moving towards the state of decay and abandonment, hard rock mines are becoming a rare species.
