I'm a distance runner so I'm always looking for new and interesting places to go and end up canvassing an area pretty quickly. Yea some people might not like the whole 'athletic' idea, but the same goes whether you're on foot or in a car. Just look about. I mean really look. Not just drive by places. Look for signs, busted windows, open windows (and see if they change here n there) the surrounding property etc etc. Guaranteed you'll find some cool stuff. After I find a spot I do online research and scope it out a few times to make sure there's no activity. Although sometimes I hear of places through stories from family members who used to work in a certain place that was shut down or just through local history maps and pictures. I'm a real sucker for that stuff. The places known and still accessible are rather just a few and usually overrun and done to death. Anything else is usually being torn down rather quickly, not getting a chance to get roughed up by nature. And that despite it being a rather rural area with lots of open space where I live.
