I too am 6'0 with very long hair. Bandanas are very helpful.

Living in an area relatively thick with gang impersonators, that has actually caused more problems than it fixed, around here. Though graphic and other type of bandannas without the Paisley design tend to be safe enough I reckon.

I have long hair halfway down my back and i normally just pull it into a ponytail or braid it when i am on an explore. That works for me usually, and you can always put more hair ties down the length to keep it out of the way. I never have trouble with my hair when i do this. I do recommend wearing a hat of some kind when it is windy as stray hairs will always seem to make their way out and into your face. But I welcome you to the community and hope to see some stuff from you or see you at an event!

Everyday is an exploration! Go out and do something new today :D

When hiking in cooler weather I used to have this thing that was basically a hoodie made out of tshirt material.

I was thinking something like this may work, but thats more for sunburn prevention.

The longest my hair has ever been was shoulder length, so I'd just wear one of those beanies with the ear flaps.

I was/am usually in more peril of banging my head on things than getting my hair caught on stuff. 6'7" here. =(

Currently bald, so I only have 1 out of the 2 problems now.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

Ouch, i haven't really got that problem, but a friend of mine does. It's terrible when you think you've cleared it, straighten up a bit too quickly and slam your head on it anyway.

Not done much exploring but for hiking and mushroom hunting I use the combo of ponytail and ball cap.

Mushroom hunting eh?

You like putting them in your mouth when you find them?

I used to shave my hair off years ago as I hated the upkeep but in the past year I sorta started growing it into a mohawk... which just eventually became a very long rat tail at the back and just long hair in general since I got lazy and stopped shaving the sides. Doesn't really pose a problem in exploring situations though unless a crazed homebum wants to pull on my shit.

I was going a different direction with that one actually.....

I'm a dude, and I have long hair...almost to my ass long hair. I ponytail my hair when I go out exploring for 2 reasons:

1. I don't want to look like an unemployed hippie or guitarist when I approach neighbours, owners, etc. about entry. I don't worry about the Rob Zombie styled beard & mustache.

2. It's bad enough when I hit something with my head or end walking up head first into a strong wind on a farm field and my baseball cap goes flying, but getting hair caught on rafters, beams, nails, broken glass, fences, bush/braken, the camera strap, etc. is a pain in the...hair.

Sometimes I will triple ponytail my hair. That way none of it will break free and eventually catch on something.

Isn't that kind of repetitive?

I'm also over 6' with hair down to my waist. I have my wife braid it, I'll wear it in a hoodie, or I'll just say "fuck it" and hope it doesn't catch on anything. So far so good.

Except for those goddamned seatbelts. They hunger for hair and delight in the pain of tearing it from your head.

I am not long haired but every wood/metal shop I have worked in had at least 1 long haired person. They would put it in a pony tail and then put it in a stocking cap so it wouldn't get caught in a machine.

I hear ya there. But no more braids for me since her and I were separated. Often I also take that same approach, "FI" and hope for the best. And ya, seatbelts love hair and eating it - nasty things.
