Anybody here from San Antonio?
What's there to see or explore?

I might have to move there soon.

And in case you know a nice house I could rent, just let me know as well.

And if you make a funny comment, that's fine too.

san antonio... i was there 2 times. once to move a friend to his moms from st. louis and then 20 years later on a mini holiday.

the area around should hold a lot of history and be ripe with finds. good luck in your travels man.

and now a joke:
An Indian and a Chinese entered a chocolate store. As they were busy looking, the Chinese stole three chocolate bars. As they left the store, the Chinese said to the Indian "Man I'm the best thief, I stole three chocolates and no one saw me. You can't beat that!"

The Indian replied "You want to see something better? Let's go back to the shop and I'll show you real stealing".

So they went to the counter and the Indian said to the shopkeeper "Do you want to see magic?" The shopkeeper replied "Yes". The Indian said "Give me one chocolate bar". The shopkeeper gave him one and he ate it. The Indian asked for a second bar and he ate that as well. He asked for the third, and finished that one too.

The shopkeeper asked: "But where's the magic?" The Indian replied "Check in my friend's pocket, and you'll find all three bars of chocolate".

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

I live in SA however the number of spots is decreasing rapidly. if anything the need to go to other cities or towns for spots is becoming well needed.

Well, i see your in the club.. What kind of knee pads did you use..?

I agree. Some of my favorite spots are in SA but most of them aren't accessible anymore. I grew up in SA and was fortunate enough to get into most of those places before they became inaccessible.

And don't get overly excited, thinking that a trip to Austin will provide the killer exploration sites you're not able to find in San Antonio. Pretty slim pickin's over here. Surely it's better in SA than Austin...

its clearing out pretty quick here. development is rapidly spreading while police have been cracking down even harder on trespassing/vandalism. its not as easy as it used to be. oh yeah, San Antonio seems to be a BIG gun city, where everyone seems to carry guns around these days. wouldn't want to get caught on someones property around here, it could possibly be the last thing you do. ive had my run ins.

Hey, anyone in the San Antonio area feel like exploring with me a buddy on Saturday Feb 16? We're driving down from Austin to shoot the old grain elevator next to the river trail and it'd be good to meet a fellow hood rat or two. I used to explore every weekend when I lived in Memphis but since moving to Austin, I can't manage to find a single damn building that's empty.

i hear its still hit or miss. some people report being pulled over and arrested for even being on the road by the place. and of course there are reports of an older man who lives on site that is more than willing to fire a shotgun in the air to warn those nasty photographers that he means business. no idea if any of its true or not im willing to find out the next time i am down that way

The place is still there. It's a bit beat up, but it's still there.
However, this means that all the old problems are still there.
The Bexar County Learning (Detention)center is still there. Frequent police patrols are still there. Crazy neighbor who lives across the road and discharges his shotgun every time he sees strangers is still there...
Basically it's a very bad place to visit. Don't do it.

Life is hard, but it's harder when you're stupid.

This sounds as the best way to get in it is with PD present.
Remind me in a month and I will let you know if there is a chance to get in it with police protection from this shotgun junkie.

Send me your cell number and I will come with you.
But I am still new to the city, so you need to know where it is as I don't know this place.

I went out there to shoot one night back in 2007, and when I turned down the road that leads to it, a white pickup in front of me turned too. I figured, "No big deal, he's probably going to the Juvy center". But no, he passed it up and continued to the end of the road and as we pulled up to the property, he pulled off to the right side and turned his lights off. There were two other cars already parked there but empty, and one had all it's doors open and what looked like some belongings spread about on the ground.

I threw it in reverse and got the H-E-L-L outta there damn fast.
