| | | These where taken about a month ago. I haven't gotten out much and probably wont be getting out for a least another month or so so I've been trying new ways to edit. I just got lightroom and so far I think it's more useful for portrait shoots than this kind of stuff but I'm having fun with it. What do you think? Tear them apart. 1.

| | | My eyes don't land anywhere on 1. Maybe one of the experts will offer some suggestions on spiral staircase composition. Excellent color, DOF, and overall tone in 2-4. They really capture the mood of the site. Sorry. I can't find anything else to complain about. They're good shots. Post bad pictures. That worked for me ;) [last edit 11/13/2012 5:11 AM by UrbexNY - edited 1 times]

| | | I got into tone mapping, but like HDR it is not all that hot on here, I like it though. I think #1 is good, but that tone mapping would have brought out more detail and texture. I like them all but #3, the DOF kind takes away using the curtain target. I would have liked to see more of the frame in that shot. But that is just me. Still not bad.

| | | Thank you UrbexNY and Ghostofthelens. I went through an hdr and tone mapping phase but I'm pretty much over that now and only use it if the lighting really calls for it. But here's a different view of the staircase. As for the curtain shot, just trying to shoot something that's been shot a million times a little differently but the more I look at it the more I think it's pretty boring.

| | | I wonder how that spiral staircase would look from that angle if lit by remote triggered flash(s) from up above the first step just out of the frame; overpowering the ambient light. Might make for some interesting shadows. (Yep. Strobe phase...)

I bet that would be beautiful. I might have to start a strobe phase soon.

| | | Loving the minimalistic take, the second one is my favorite just wish it was a bit more lighter and slightly more contrast. Otherwise I think you're doing a good job my dear!

| | | I think the first one is an interesting perspective on a staircase. My eyes land on the white horizontal line at the top and the gradient brings my eye down. The others have a nice look to them, they just need more subject matter. You seem to like textures a lot so maybe focus in on them with a little abstraction.

Thanks! I do have a thing for textures lately but I also feel like my compositions have become a bit on the boring side. I need to start thinking more abstract I guess.

Agreed. Just lighten up that one a little bit, and it would be a very good photo. Nonetheless I like it as is.

| | | One and three dont have much to look at, they aren't bad though, just not great. Two and four however - I love these, I actually wouldn't lighten two, I love the mystique of a dark shot. It's all preference I guess but I think you got it right the first time.

| | | The second one is the only one the truly stands out to me but I really like it. The others don't have a whole lot going on that catches my eye.
