| | | Posting this in the noobie section because A..I'm sorta new here and B...Well idk honestly lol.
I had a couple Q's about peoples thoughts on the implements of the Go-pro 3 and UE. Being that it now has Wi-fi and can sync live video with your smart phone or IOS device, have you all thought about the possibility of using it as a watch out device for your more un-ethical trips into those abandoned buildings? I'm sure the whole lookout camera thing for this sort of activity isn't new, I thought the Gopro would be the first widely accepted and used one if used for that at all. (May be a stupid idea to the more seasoned people?)
Also have you all been using any of the gopro line for video taking during your adventures and how has that been more positive or negative over using your DSLR?

| | | I don't know anyone who has a hero3 yet. I know several people who film with the older models. They are great, except for their low-light performance, which is seriously lacking compared to dSLRs. But they're cheap and you can drag them through sand and water day in and day out without worrying about it.

I've heard/seen some good stuff about lowlight on the 3. Although you wouldn't get the more artsy video shots with it, I think if it was just you and a DSLR you could shoot video with the Go-pro and not have to worry about switching too much between modes or interrupt your video taking by taking pictures.
Also like I said, if the wifi mode reached your Ipad/smart phone far enough to set the camera at an entrance. You could also watch for police or anything of that nature. For us paranoid people lol.

Nothing we do is unethical. But I get what you're saying... I don't really think this would be worth the effort honestly, at least for 99% of locations. But maybe there is some niche application for this out there somewhere... It just seems to me that the chances that the person you are watching for actually walks through the camera's view, while you happen to be watching the feed, and then this actually saves you from serious consequences are pretty small. Also, most of the cool abandonments would extend way beyond the wifi range.

| | | The main problem I'd have is this; once I've spotted someone approaching, how would I retrieve the £200+ GoPro without being spotted?

| | | If you're looking for a wireless camera, the gopro is an absurdly expensive way of doing it. You can get cheap battery powered, wireless cameras for $20, which in a pinch can be 'disposable'. Check this out; http://bit.ly/SjdtQu Power the receiver with 3 18650s, and add a screen, (http://bit.ly/10RP2vQ, $20) and have a $50, wireless, night vision, battery operated camera.
