My first explore = missed it by 30 minutes

It took me months and months to get up the guts to do my first explore. I used to live in the far North of Quebec (Native reservation, nearest town was a 4 hour drive down a dirt road), so getting caught wasn't really a worry, as the cops don't patrol this area. However, the type of people who squat and reside 4 hours from civilization, well... more concerning. So, we arrived at the abandoned Paradise motel to scope it out to take pics the next AM... and it was on fire.

The cops took nearly 2 hours to get there, after we called, and decided since there were no towns within 250 km that they would let it burn. Missed my chance by about 2 hours.

During and after images below.

And yes, I've found stuff to explore, afterwards, that wasn't an an inferno upon arrival.

It was in the middle of nowhere, so I have a hard time believing it was arson. If you Google Lac Paradis, Quebec you'll see it's pretty far off from... Well, civilization.

It was the brave little toaster, and it was a movie.

How else do things in the middle of nowhere burn down though? I'd think an arsonist would want to ply his trade as far as possible from civilisation.

Brush fire? But and again... That ain't Cali... And yea probably arson. I mean especially if it is that far off it's most likely some bored kids with an urge to burn some shit. Seems logical.

Yeah, if it were a brush fire I'm sure there would've been lots of trees on fire.

Anyway having lived in Canada I learned never to underestimate stir-crazy kids living in the countryside.

Or any kids in that matter haha. But I just though of something else... A lot less likely but ya never know... Could it have been hobos or junkies not careful with there lighters... Or a meth lab haha... They are more likely in the middle of nowhere... But and again, I'm the kind of person that believes in government conspiracies to cover up UFOs...

Seems like it would have been a good first place to check. Shame it had to burn, probably a squatter or a charizard.

Looks like it was in a beautiful area too.

I asked around with some of the Crees I know in the area.... Rumour is there was an arsonist police officer in the area who just got caught burning something else down on that stretch of road...

Mystery solved.

Irony: the place I've been planning to visit next Saturday for 2 months (hotel booked and all) completely burned due to some vandals today in Ottawa.
Bleeeeh.

I would hate to be a troll here, but it is a well known fact that arsonists like to take pictures/videos of their burns and hang around their works. They are proud of what they do.

You could very well be an arsonist who is bragging about your job on here. It may be coincidence, or it may not be. I know that these buildings are prime targets, but I also know that people use this site for more than just exploring.

The timing just seems too perfect to me, but that just may be because I am a cynic.

Female arsonists are very rare, though it's hard to tell because most profiles of arsonists are usually just a string of insults coming from cops or firefighters. "Below average IQ," "Sexual inadequacy," etc.
