A trip to the "aquarium"....r-i-g-h-t...

No really, we did go to the aquarium though. Didn't think you guys would be interested in pictures of fishes and flowers hahaha. After the grand opening of Belle Isle Aquarium Dsomms, SkateDetroit and I decided to head up to the Southwest Hospital. Dsomms already went last weekend with ue20 so I tried getting different shots. Didn't want to be repetitive. Any who...the getting in part kind of worried me because that day was the day that the cyclers did their "tour de toit" thing and omg that was ridiculous. Many parked by the hospital and kept looking at us. >.> Got in anyways.

Didn't get a chance to see the basement, or find the morgue because we didn't have the proper lighting/didn't have a respirator for SkateDetroit. After we headed to the St.Anges church/school. Church was boarded up School was OK. Nothing too exciting. Really wanted to get into the church though, definitely would like some shots of it! Hopefully next time there'll be a way in.

Please enjoy the long post of pictures.

Have you ever been inside the church part before?

It's definitely cool, it was accessible around mid-July...

Just FYI: During the late 1990s/early 2000s, SW Detroit Hospital was home to a Detroit PD unit. I don't know what unit, but they seemed to have at least a couple dozen people working there, including a good number of command officers.

It was not an official, published DPD office, but they didn't really take steps to hide their presence, either. Seemed like they mostly kept regular business hours.

I'd investigated/discovered numerous other 'secret' DPD special-unit offices while living in downtown Detroit, but never figured out what the unit was that operated out of SW Detroit Hospital, so I'm just wondering if any of you that UE'ed the place noticed any DPD or basic LE-related remains there??

I didn't sit around and read very many of the millions of files that were strewn around every one of the floors to be able to tell if it was medical or LE, but no, you really wouldn't be able to tell that DPD had ever used the place in any kind of significance.

We hadn't. Another friend told me the right way in after getting a bit of misinformation.

Jesus God, that place has really been rat-fucked by vandals. #34 is quite beautiful, though.

Yup, a shame that it had to go through such tragedy, but thank you!

Such is the climate in Detroit UE. Sites can go from just closed and pristine to skull fucked bad in a matter of weeks.
