Tonight I headed out with no plan. I just started walking.
Eventually I get to some kind of weird power plant/flood gate thing. Me being me I found something to climb. It wasnt really anything cool and not particularly high either, but it was more fun then I was having at my apartment. I climbed the outside cage of a ladder probably 30 feet to get on top of some strange concrete tower.
I got bored of that pretty quickly and moved on to the main area. Scoping the place out for a while (for motion sensors lol) I decide this should be an easy climb and a pretty fun adventure. I do a couple half assed ninja moves to get up to where the real fun is. Dual floodgates that are probably 50-75 up at the top. I hang for a minute and take a snap or 2. Then its game time. I put my gloves on and started climbing all over this thing. I got to the other side looking forward to being able to explore more but unfortunately my path ended there.
So what to do now? Well lets see exactly how high I can climb this I decide. I get to the top of the floodgates and I swore I heard something. I freeze & wait. Nothing, maybe Im hearing things. I move to the left a step, and another, and another and then a fucking pigeon making all kind of noise flies off a foot or so away from my head. I reflexively kind of duck/spaz out and try to move my face to the right. Well that was dumb because I smack my face right on the metal rail Im holding onto. Now Im really seeing birdies as I dazed the shit out of myself. I held on tight though.
Looking back that couldve been real bad for me. I was exploring alone and no one knew anything about it. I had no cell phone. Basically if I wouldve fell tonight I believe I would be dead now or knocking on deaths door soon. But as my boy Eddie V says "oooooooooooohhhhhh iiiiiiiiii ohhhhhhhhhh im still alive"
As I write this an hour after impact my cut is still slowly oozing out blood. It was a fun walk home for about a mile or so lol.

I'm glad to hear that you came away with nothing more than a battle scar. Being startled at heights could easily lead to a tragic outcome. Darwin must like you. 
BK, I won't give you a pass on being too poor for a band-aid though! A couple of band-aids, butterflies, and some bacitracin will cost you less than a Playboy magazine. Get an infection that requires a doctor's attention can cost you some serious $$$. Grab a quick photo of your war wound for posterity, then clean it up and get a bandage over it. (I know that I sound like a mom because I am one.)
