| | Detroit Urbex ~ New to the forums < on 8/31/2012 9:15 PM >
| | | Hello all! Just taking some time to introduce myself to other urbexers in the Great Lakes region. I'm a pretty experienced urbexer, but I'm looking to introduce a social aspect to my urbexing. Thus, these forums. Hopefully I can connect with some other Detroiters. I'm definitely a beginner photographer, not all that good, but hey, I'm trying. =]. I like shooting in macro sometimes while urbexing, because I'm fascinated by the things that you find on the floors and textures and things like that. For all those people that talk bad about Detroit and how it's so unsafe and blah blah blah, I just want to go on record as saying that I freaking love Detroit. It's unique, interesting, and has a lot of history. Honestly, I think that the only reason people have a problem with the people of Detroit is because of their own stereotype. I'm a 110 pound white chick and I'm not afraid to walk around the streets of Detroit. If you just act like a human being and treat everyone you meet with respect, you see that the people of Detroit are some of the nicest people around. I love the city, and the urbexing possibilities are great. Well that's about all I got, there's my attempt at diving into these forums. Hope to see ya around...~

Thanks! I'm about 20-ish minutes from downtown, all freeways so it's an easy drive. I'm definitely down for some night time exploring if you're ever looking for someone!

| | | Probably having a meet this coming up weekend. Four or five of us for sure. Roof topping downtown will be involved one of the days to watch the warships for the war of 1812 reenactment. We have a few places in the hopper we want to check out as well. Anyone interested in details PM me.

Stick to Detroit. There is literally nothing to explore in the city of Troy. [last edit 9/4/2012 9:08 PM by DSomms - edited 1 times]

Welcome! I came here for the same reason, but have yet to really post or participate in the forum despite months of lurking. I often wonder if I've ever crossed paths with some of the people on this forum while exploring over the years.

Any buildings in particular you would recommend for photography?

There's plenty of places you could go to research abandoned buildings in Detroit to see what ones you'd like most to see in your time here.
