You don't need much gear. Some people are over the top with gear.
I have clothing. Just every day clothing. I have shoes. Just every day shoes. I have a couple of flash lights. Both are LED, and both are waterproof. Both cost less than 5 pounds. I spent three days underground in the Paris Catacombs with that gear,a couple of bottles of water, cans of cassoulette and a map. I used tea light candles to heat the cans of food.

I've never had to break down walls or fences. Never had to climb walls. Never needed a rope or knife. The only other bit of equipment I have wished I had was a helmet because I have hit my head a few times, and waterproof boots.

Oh. I have used reels of string while exploring mines, and I carry a mobile phone.

Yes, *THAT* guy.

Carry a crowbar. All serious explorers carry crowbars. With a crowbar cops, hobo, and fellow explorers give instant respect. Also you get a discount in the UER store for Craftsman crowbars. Av likes Craftsman.

^nice troll comment, lol. When I looked at DJ Craig seup the first thing that comes to mind is zombie apocalypse gear. For me I just keep on me gloves, 3 flash lights, camera and a N95 mask.

I have found that I generally carry way too much stuff along. Helmet, gloves, water, batteries, and backup lights are essentials for me. I enjoy taking pictures so I almost always have a camera as well. Add climbing gear if it's going to be a vertical exploration.

Depending on who I'm with, I'll throw in food as well. It seems like we can't get in and out of a mine in less than about 10 hours.

This is one of the two reasons I wear a helmet. The other is that its a great light mount.
