| | | Had a BLAST today exploring with highxfive. Got off work early and 12, called him up, and spent a solid 8 hours or so exploring around Dtown and Ft. Worth. Our little gem of the trip, though: Nick's Last Resort. Halfway between Dallas and Ft. Worth on a lonely highway sits this sad temple dedicated to the lack of foresight god. It was obvious inside that the hotel was funded, planned, and then they got about halfway through building then just stopped, and it never even opened. Building supplies littered the grounds of the building, and inside, here and there lay the odd tool or glove, cigarette packs and lunch remnants, scattered among bath tub molds, rolls of duct and painters tape, and the general detritus of construction. The whole place had sort of an eery refinement to it, like it never really got used enough to be considered worn down or decrepitude, but still forgotten and kind of unwanted. 1. Nick's Last Resort from a distance 2. Tall grass and even taller fences, rather sturdy ones, too. 3. No problem, though.
4. The first floor was very rough and unfinished.
5. Plenty of materials to finish the place.
6. highxfive in the first floor's main hallway
7. Your heros.
8. All of the blueprints and technical shit were laying about. Kind of sad.
9. Hallways upstairs all looked like these. All half done, all so neat and clean yet so dirty.
10. Most of the rooms looked like this.
11. Apparently "ZERM" beat us to this one, though.
12. So did ALSER.
13. So close to being done, but not.
14. Yes, yes you are.
15. Dirty, nasty pool. Highway is pretty close, too.
16. 3 feet of MUCK
17. And lastly, a little message from "Nick".

| | | wasnt this a la quinta hotel at some point? ive seen it forever but now i cant recall ever seeing lights on. with the stadium up the street i would think a chain like la quinta would have finished the job! cool that you guys hit it up - ive been meaning to stop by myself - its a little clean for my taste but still pretty cool in its own generic way. thanks for sharing-- i wonder if another hotel chain will pick up where someone else left off...? nice job man -

| | | I know that place, looked at it several times but never went in. What I heard is they lost some kind of permit and zoning was revoked. Been that way ever since. Wish I had known when I texted you today Slow you were out and about, I had 10 free hours and could have joined ya. I was only in Cleburne!

| | | There was a motel a lot like this in my home town. It sat for years halfway finished and then was suddenly completed and open for business. Seemed to me like a bad idea since this one didn't actually have walls yet and was just the wooden skeleton exposed to the elements and turning grey with time. Still there and open as far as I know but I have no idea how structurally sound it is.
