I noticed a lot of you talking about the e-cigarette. Do you really find that it helps you. I have been wary of spending that much money on something that is a fluke.

i quit smoking with the ecig for about 4 months then the local supplier stopped carrying it... back to smoking for me although it was great being able to breathe completely

Ophie, and for others who are wondering, the e-cig is wonderful,

I went from a pack a day (almost) down to like 2-3, then zero, it takes about a week to transition, but being able to taste food again and smell is wonderful haha

If you're in the states its pretty easy to get, and I don't recommend the crap they sell at malls and such, online is your best bet, your can a website called ECF (google it) and they have all sorts of info about what to get and what not to,

If you're in Canada, online is really the only way, P.M. me for a compiled list of suppliers and such.

I smoke inside almost all the abandonments I explore. I just make sure to spit a half mouthful of water on the butt when I'm finished to make sure it's completely out. As far as smell goes, most of the places don't have windows so the breeze takes care of it almost immediately.

Posted by HungarianSMI've bought a respirator anyways, but it doesn't hurt to know.

I don't smoke at all, but I was wondering how you smoke while wearing a respirator.

Off-topic review on the E-cig.

You'll basically never quit nicotine with one of these--not because "you don't have to". Because you can't.

Imagine smoking five packs a day--honestly at two a day I got headaches and exhaustion. Too many cigarettes can outright make you vomit and pass out. With the E-cig you can just keep smoking and smoking, nothing stops you. Beyond that, you can't tell where one cigarette ends and where one begins.

So when smoking actual cigarettes I was a pack a day--my nicotine level with this thing I recently calculated may be three to six cartons a week. It works but it's a cash cow scam--you'll end up more addicted than ever and they know it.

The lower levels of nicotine in the 'ready to quit' filters also die in half the time. I think this is intentional, it's not because you're smoking more often due to the lower dosage or anything. They put less everything in it.

I've also heard rumors about there being components of antifreeze in them. Whether this is true or just propoganda [the idea is that they want to outlaw it so kids won't smoke] I can't figure out. But if there really is antifreeze...say goodbye to your brain, then heart, then finally your kidneys.

This is indeed a rumor, spread by media, and uninformed individuals,

I know we're going off topic here, but I wanna set some things straight

Propylene Glycol is indeed an ingredient IN antifreeze, but is also found in asthma inhalers, used in lung transplant victims, and various other medical stuff, the stuff is as harmless as it gets,

With the nicotine itself, I had a friend completely quit both cigs, and the electronic variety by slowly cutting down on the nic levels, started at 24mg, then down to 18mg, and so on, until he reached 0, then stopped completely, he only enjoys the green herb once in a while now.

I'm down to 18mg, and it is true that you don't know where one ends and another begins, but with much lower levels of nic. than real cigarrettes, e-cigs are much safer, in the fact that i've never gotten nauseous after using them, unlike tobacco cigs.

The main reason i switched over is because I know whats in my e-cig liquid, where it's made and by whom, there's no added chemicals and other stuff, and its much much safer. I think in regards to carcinogenic qualities it ranks lower than chocolate, & pop.

Just my .02

P.S. the reason e-cigs have a ban in some states, and not discussed by media etc.. is because of the insane amount of lobbying by the tobacco companies who make billions off us each year)

I usually don't go draining unless I have a joint or two. Nothing like it. And, if there is a lot of outlets to the street, just wait till you are in a more enclosed area. Hot boxing a drain is awesome. As far as the gasses, if it's thick enough to ignite, you'll have a lot more warning ahead of time. Like coma.

For buildings, I use common sense. If the floor is concrete, and there's not massive barrels of gasoline nearby, why not. But if it's carpet or wood or otherwise flammable, eh, not the best idea.

And if I was really that concerned about asbestos in my lungs, I wouldnt be smoking cigs in the first place.

Sometimes in storm drains, near grated manhole covers, I light one up (mostly just to scare whoever might be topside). Now that you mention this though, that might make a cool picture.

Is that snow or asbestos?

You can smell the smoke a couple clicks downwind. It gives you away.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

I'm imagining a cop standing in an open field on a breezy day, he sniffs the air and turns to the east, a lone building can be seen in the far distance.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this thread was implying smoking an illegal substance and UE-ing. ;)

I don't smoke cigarettes, so I can't contribute much to this thread.

Info.

Thanks, even just reading that takes some stress off my mind

I have an exploring friend who's always smoking in abandonments. At first I wasn't expecting it and coming into a room to that smell always got me worried. I was newer to exploring back then and thought it was the smell of some terrible and deadly toxin, lol. I was only sorta right.

Around here though, the cops are dicks. If you got caught exploring and they found bud on you, they'd probably lock you up for a while.

In a large building complex it's the easiest way to know someone is there.
The NVA loved the grunt's smoking habits. It carries well across open fields and through triple canopy jungle.
Noise discipline is worthless if you're going to smoke.

Yeah they are really good. You don't have to spend much money, you can get a rechargeable one for 20 bucks and the cartridges are cheep too.
