I signed up. What the hell, why not. From the sounds of their email, they are not going to be as uptight about photos. No mention was made of giving them the rights, the only rule was no tripods (that sucks, but ah well... rules out the 4x5 for interiors at least...)

The lawyers probably decided they don't care as much about copyright issues if all the photos are guaranteed to suck.

re: tripods -

it would be nice to be able to use them, but one can still get decent photos without, depending on the lighting. Also, a mini tabletop tripod can likely be brought in and hold a camera tight to a wall or something, without anyone noticing. That would help some.

Chances are re: no tripods, it's just a shitty easy way to cut down on photographers taking up time/space/etc on the tour. A lot of museums have the same rule. No, it doesn't make any sense to me either.

They don't mention monopods, one might be able to disguise one of those as a walking stick or something? Might help, a little.

Here's the wording:

"PHOTOGRAPHY

Handheld photography ONLY will be allowed inside
the buildings. Absolutely no tripods will be
allowed. Photography is ONLY allowed for personal
use in a respectful manner, for example, no
"haunted" or "paranormal" references please."

off topic:

I can totally see where they are coming from with that. I know a few people who can be subtle in there ways and don't namedrop stuff, but a majority of the "ghost" hunter people I see on youtube or other places just piss me off to no end.
Most UEers will follow the guidelines set in place by the community (some don't) but a lot of people I see looking for ghosts have no guidelines to follow about the location they are visiting, just about how to collect "evidence".
