Suggestions? Thoughts?

A small sampling of photos from the last couple abandonments I've visited. Any suggestions, thoughts, or critiques are welcome. I'm always looking to improve, but haven't received much criticism to my photos lately. I realize that a lot of my shots have a very shallow depth of field, this is from shooting on as small of an aperture as possible in dark locations.

Number 1 is awesome. I like the shallow depth of field on 2nd.

#1 through #3 have a sort of digital lo-fi feel that I personally love the hell out of. Another explorer I run with uses a similar editing style on his own images, desaturated, shallow DOF, rich in contrast (as opposed to contrast-challenged tone mapped images)... good stuff.

The fourth seems a bit weak, however - maybe a combination of little things like not enough richness in the blacks (too little contrast), lines aren't straight (a kind of staple for interior shots unless your angle of view is steep)... little things. But yeah, #2 is easily the best from my point of taste.

We didn't need a story. We didn't need a real world. We just had to keep walking. And we became the stories, we became the places. We were the lights, the deserts, the faraway worlds. We were you before you even existed.

Love your style of processing! It's pretty unique and that's always a good thing.

1 looks underexposed to me. 2 and 3 I really like, nice shots. Between the boring subject, barrel distortion, and severly blown-out windows, 4 is pretty rough. I'd dump that one.

Yeah I wrote that down and was thinking...wait...isn't it the opposite. Thanks for the correction and the suggestions!

If we're critiquing...

#1 is a great shot but I'd like to see the entire sign in sharp focus, the right portion of it is a little soft and seems like your DOF was wide enough to have covered it.

#2 is a good shot and the shallow DOF works great.

#3 is a fantastic shot! I love it, wouldn't change a thing about it.

#4 has absolutely nothing to do with your other shots. I agree with arntzville that you should have left it out.

#1 I would tilt up a little to get a more perspective. My mind wants to look up and see where you are. Also focus about an inch closer.
