My cell phone has a flashlight app, so can an iPod also be manipulated to turn the entire screen as bright as possible?

I have that app for my phone too, it's great. I use it at night in the garage, or to get the key in the lock, or whatever.

I *wouldn't* use it as my only sole source of light underground. I mean I might if I saw a place in passing and wanted to look real quick, but I wouldn't go out with that AS my primary lighting source. And I always carry backups anyway.

This one time I was 600ft down in a mine, several levels down. My primary headlamp at the time had an external battery pack. The wire caught on something and one of the little wires inside it broke. So I switched to my secondary headlamp, and started making my way out. Up another level I managed to smash my head into an overhead beam, and I broke my secondary headlamp. So I had gone through TWO THIRDS of my lights, and made it back out using my handheld light and sweating bullets.

Now if I'm going very far underground I carry 2 or 3 headlamps, and 2 or 3 handhelds. I wouldn't wanna actually ever run out of light sources underground. In a drain, maybe not "as" bad, but in a mine? Oh fuck no...

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

Good point, that could have been really scary, this was way back in my 'Ghetto Explorer' stage, so I was cheaping out on everything. Saskatoon drains aren't really that complicated anyways, mostly just straight lines as far as I've been able to go upstream. If I felt I needed to really get a good look at what was around me, I would just use the flash from my camera to light up everything for a good thirty feet up the tunnel. So no caves here, but if I ever went into a mineshaft, I'm definitely bringing extra lights now. That sounds like it would be the scariest thing ever. Down shits cave without a lamp, hey?

Entry to the rooftop playground is free, if you look up enough to know it's there.

HEY!!! yeah. Basically. Also, I have a buddy who lives out where you do. He owns and operates Tree Dimensional tree service. =)

He's shown me pics from out there. Says you can watch your dog running away for 3 days. Pretty flat =P

I've heard allthe flat jokes, and I've only lived here two years! It is pretty bad:
- Only in Saskatchewan can you visit your grandparents and wave bye-bye for three hours when you leave.
- Saskatchewan is so flat that if you look carefully enough into the distance, you can see the back of your head.
- Saskatchewan... where no man can leap to his death. (This one's not quite true, we've had several suicides on the bridges these last few years.)
- Saskatchewan is the only place on earth where you can moon yourself without use of a mirror.
Seriously, people go on like this forever! (Or about as far as you can see into the distance)

I got it the first few places that I went. Now, I don't get it at all. I often wander off alone from my friends and just chill in the pitch black at night.

However, even though I've been to many places now (at least 20), I've never encountered cops or property owners. Last place I went an alarm went off. That definitely shot my panic through the roof! However, I am sure that the more I explore, I will eventually meet cops or owners and get caught. I will be friendly and talk to them. The first few times I'll be freaking out. However, after a while that too will become commonplace.
